In a Fight who would win.
The Zerg
A life form that takes the best of a creature and throws out the rest. There tech is high and there strength is to be reckoned with. Just one could wipe out any species as they can recover unless all are wiped out.

The Flood
Like the zerg these creatures or creature take over other life forms but unlike the zerg take the body as a whole and increase on its strength but weaken its health. The only ways to kill it are to kill its food or kill all of it.

The Hierarchy
While being the only 1 of these 3 to not poses the ability to take over other life forms they do have a tech that rivals both. They have killed off a species and are taking on 3 different ones all at once. There species is built apon strngth and could go hand to hand with many creatures.

I personally think the Hierarchy just for there weapons.
actually I think a cooler fight would of been the covanant vs the Hierarchy as both are oddly the same.

The Zerg vs Flood question popped into my head as I played Starcraft the other day so on this note, GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

It would only be a fight between the Zerg and Flood. By the Flood's very nature (and maybe the Zerg's too; haven't played SC2 yet), whatever technology the other factions have, the Flood get by infecting. The Hiearchy wouldn't stand a chance, especially if the Zerg do this as well.

Which is what makes them so friggin' dangerous. Its nearly impossible to stop the Flood. And certainly impossible to do it in a warzone.

Oh, and the Flood don't weaken the health of the infected. They add to it. The Flood novel depicts Flood forms being ripped apart but continuing to fight, sorta like Necromorphs. The only way to put them down for god is to literally wreck them.

Anyway, does the Zerg go airborne? And are they a single macro-organism? I know they're a hivemind, but are they literally one single super organism like the Gravemind?

Its because of this that makes be doubt the Flood can be counterinfected. The Besterium strongly hints they're immune to disease, which would make sense considering there is no individuals in the Flood, just extensions of the Gravemind.

As the Gravemind has no true central core (he is a distributed network. The venus flytrap thing from Halo 2 is simply a verbal communication organ, not the "head."), he can't be specially targeted to kill off or infect the Flood.

From my limited knowledge of the Zerg, I'd say the Flood wins.

the only question left is if the zerg has a nervous sistem

The Hierarchy species dont have bones. well they do but there crystals. So this means the flood can't infect them and live off it.

yes the zerg do have air born units.
the zerg take only the best part of what they take over. so if something fly's im sure its a good trait to keep.

Also half of the The Hierarchy are machines. so there's that

Not air units. I mean is it an airborne disease. Can you breath the air near the Zerg and become infected.

As for the Hierarchy being crystal, it only matters if they have brains, or a central nervous system. If they have that, they can be infected. Just won't be any calcium to add to the biomass. (will be a lot of technology though.)

And we already know the Gravemind can hack machines.

The zerg sorta do but its has to be some what close or else it evaporates.

The Hierarchy machines produce chemicals which can turn any dead organic lifeforms into a mindless zombie like creature called a Mutant slave While it would have no afect on the zerg it would have huge affects on any flood. From killing it on contact to turning it into a slave for the Hierarchy. Turning the flood on flood. Indeed an odd littler predicament that would turn into.

That's physically impossible. It also reverses what makes sense.

The Flood is not a massing of trillions of individual organisms per say, rather they are a single macro-organism (actually directly stated in the Halo 3 Besterium). To infect the Flood with anything, you'd have to hit every single last inch of the Flood at once.

See, the Gravemind IS the Flood. He has no central being, but is distributed across the entire Flood biomass. Killing a Flood is like slicing off a limb of an infnitely limbed creature. Trying to infect a Flood would ultimately either not work at all and have no effects, or just kill it all the same just like a bullet to the brain.

And as for the Zerg: why are they not prone to getting counter infected? Again, I still haven't gotten around to playing SC2 yet (damn computer won't take it. Need to call the help line), but the videos I've seen suggest it to be little more then the Borg from Star Trek. A central and tangible hivemind that if killed will take out the entire race.

Its not like the Zerg are a singular organism (from my knowledge), so there are still individuals that can get infected.

the waste only works on "dead" organisims. When I say flood vs flood I mean god dang body counter strike. The waste will make the taken over body fight the flood that infected it and the body will sorta explode.
The zerg take over the living and simply change there directives. Thats why the waste wont affect the zerg.
SO ya sence the flood take over dead they would be affected while the zerg would'nt
did that clear any thing up.

The flood take over the dead and make it alive. Sooooo yeah.

  • 01.30.2011 4:50 PM PDT

no they dont make it alive they sorta go in the boy and turn it into a puppet. Its dead as a door nail just with roots coursing threw the body and moving it.
