The cockpit windows are solid. The people who built the Pelicans didn't think to let pilots see where they're going.

just forgot to switch it off...:) Sorry i`m really not too good with this forum and all this windows ID stuff yet...Also it could really be helpfull cause i`m crashing on of the pelicans in my film, but to be perfectly honest - i haven`t found a clear reason why it`s crashing and it maybe can help me to develop a story...

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

It's a UNSC policy that at least 1 Pelican should crash during a mission, anything less results in the pilot being executed by a firing squad.

It's their helmets. They induce a dream state, to help the pilots relax in the midst of battle and to prevent them from panicking, effectively making them the perfect candidates for kamikaze vessels...

Kind of like Halo 3 Grunts. The Final Grunt said, "It's the gas, haha! When I'm on the gas, I don't know what I'm doing half the time!"

After all, the Pilots wear extremely durable helmets in Halo 3 (reinforcing my conjecture). This must be to ensure that they don't crack and bring the Pilot back to reality.

All we need to see now are kamikaze Pilots, who, on ground, pull the pins of 2 grenades and charge at enemies. I reckon that at some point in time, the UNSC has unleashed these beasts upon the Covies, dominating the battlefield...
