If you can read this, that means I'm not a Shaolin monk...

yet.

Me and my friend were both 25's. I go +5 and he goes -7. He goes to 27 and I stay at 25. Why? Could someone please explain?

K/D ratio has absolutely nothing to do with the ranking system mate. It's largely in part due to your game history and all that jazz. The system expected you to win so you didn't go up. The system didn't expect your friend to win as much so when he pulled through, he went up.

Why would it expect me to win? I've played over 2000 matchmade games and I only have 500 XP. My K/D is horrible, too.

Now I'll never get a 50.

Is that also why I keep getting -15 teammates 90% of my games?

It has to do with your sigma, + the combined sigma of your team vs the combined opposing teams sigma.

If you have a high win/loss ratio then you have to beat another team with a sigma close to yours. If you have a low win:loss then you will have an easier time ranking up, but you still have to have to go on a winning streak before you will start ranking up again.

Say that you have a 45% win ratio. You probably would have to win a good 5-6 games in a row before the system says that it is due to skill and not luck or other factors.

Say you have a 99% win ratio. You would have to beat teams with a high win:loss as well.

In either case beating teams that lose often will not help you rank up. If you really want to rank up faster play with someone 10 levels higher than you and play the next tier of ranks.

I loose 90% of my games due to an -blam!- who can't afford his own Xbox comes to my house every single day.

Im going to assume thats in social though. win:loss only matters per playlist, which is why you go up faster in some and slower in others

I loose a lot in Ranked too; mainly because of my "Good teammates ban". I can't get good teammates. If I party up with someone who went positive we can't find anyone.

search 2s. Your still playing low level so even if you do get randoms, if your good enough to rank up you can carry them..

Easily the hardest game of the night for secrets and I

If you have a really bad teammate you have to come up in the clutch and carry them

EDIT: That we won btw

Doubles? I'm only good when I can coordinate with my friend(s). Or when everyone's at an even playing field on a decent map with Team BRs.

I always play TS with a friend. At least that way I won't get three folks with negative.

Yeah I was going to link that big thread that explained it all, but turns out my own thread replaced it in the 'Top Forum Topics' so I said screw it because I didn't want to go find it.

They call me Dreamcast
"And now we're falling from the sky once more and now were falling fast do let's get right out of here, crash-land and be on our way, Before it's too late. Crashlland with no controls, what do you say?" Crashland, Authority Zero

Here's a detailed way to teach the ranking system in H3
1) obviously low levels go up faster
2) if your game record ( wins losses and exp) are high, expect to go up slowly.
3) If you have someone with a trashy record on your team, you go up faster(boosting)
4) if you win you go up.
5) those who are in grades (eg grade 1 etc) are at risk to going up slower
