An't we all forgetting the king of anime fighter jet dogfighting mad coolness with a cherry on top!

I forgot to mention MACROSS, brillant oldie from the 80's...

Love RoboTech, Live RoboTech, Watch RoboTech!

I mentioned Macross. Specifically, I asked whether Macross Plus would be considered a series or a movie within the context of this topic.

I consider Macross Plus a min-series movie, or a series movie, like the last 2 eposodes of Cowboy Bebop, a movie spread between two eposodes... but Macross Plus I think is a Movie eposode or extended eposode as it is part of the series.

Naruto
Full Metal Alchemist

X-tv
Ai Yori Aoshi
Followed by Onegai Teacher, Chobits, Evangellion and a host of others ;)

--Tristan thinks he has too many favourates but wouldn't have the list any other way.

Hmmm hard choice...

I am a complete anime nut, Love it!!!

I have to say I have a group I equally Like...

Cowboy Bebop (Space + Mafia + Classic Bounty Hunting Action = Sweeeetneeesss)

Serial Experiments: Lain (A real horror series for nerds, never looked at other "users" on-line in the same way again.... "I'm talking to dead people!")

Trigun (There is better stuff out-there, but the relationships of the characters make soap operas look like playschool... brilliant drama)

Neon Genesis Evangelion (What can I say? Best Anime of the 90's, top storyline.)

I may have spelt them wrong as I havent seen any of them for a while.

Cowboy Bebop rocks 2!!!!!Along with Inuyasha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any anime i watch has to have a good, deep story to it. That's why I like Evangelion so much is because of the story. It isn't some simple blow em up show that you sit down with to blow off steam, you actually have to think about it.

I don't really like Inuyasha, Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, or any other things like that, those don't tend to have comlex story lines to them.

Hellsing and Samurai X are also good (Rurouni kenshin is lacking though, and Hellsing leaves you a huge cliffhanger at the end)

I want to get my hands on GITS:SAC and Noir because i've heard good things about those. I don't like RahXephon much, it's just a crappy Eva rip off. I've seen many many animes, but there are very few i truly like.

Samurai Deeper Kyo is my favorite manga. The Anime changed too much and made it just plain bizzare.

Am currently watching: Gunslinger Girls
Am currently wishing: All little girls the best of luck in their lives.

Samurai Champloo is bad ass. FLCL is one of my personal favorites. X/1999 is one of my absolute favorites as well. So is Escaflowne (ESPECIALLY Escaflowne). Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex makes up for the 2nd rate GITS movie that came out several years ago.

Also noteworthy that I didn't notice mentioned above:

Scrapped Princess
Vandread
Stellvia of the Universe
Chobits
Haibane Renmei
Hikaru No Go

Edit- Eva, in my opinion, is grossly overrated. I personally feel that people who call it their favorite do so because they haven't experienced much else.

[Edited on 8/23/2004 12:29:53 AM]

Yeah, that last part about Eva, I disagree. Incredible story line. However, this opinion is coming from someone who isn't very fond of Anime.

Edit: When it comes to animation in general, I much prefer the humor involved in american cartoons, very good use of the medium. Anime can be "cool," but rarely does one find much of a mind blowing story. If anyone here understands what I mean by mind blowing, in the sense that Evangelion is, please suggest a series that is up to par, or better. Maybe then my disposition towards anime as a whole will be a little more open minded. I've just been exposed to some really crappy anime, like Raxephon, Inuyasha, that wolf one, etc. The adult swim ones mostley. FLCL was cool, I only saw two episodes, very bizzare, but not much else. I'm a junkie for more psychedelic-minded media, Evangelion as a good example. I watch movies/shows that are either really good, and serious, or really crappy and retarded, so Pi would be a good example of the former, and Plan 9 from Outer Space, a good example of the latter.

SevenSEVENseveN, i share your feelings exactly. You may like Hellsing and Ghost in the Shell if you havn't seen those yet. They aren't nearly as mind bogling as Evangelion, but they do have really good stories to them.

Agreed. Make sure they're Kenshin Trust and Betrayal though, the other OVA's and the series aren't that great.

I am not sure of the name but it is the one where you see Kenshin grow up after the people he was with were killed by bandits. Then he becomes the assassin. He then falls in love with the wife of a man he killed.

finalwaltz... you couldn't be more wrong about Naruto!!! You can't have seen much of teh series/anime if you believe that. It is heaps different to DBZ as well, and I'm offended by the fact that you would link the two together like that... DBZ was crappy and never went ANYWHERE! Naruto is heaps different... I could go forever about this but I'll save that for if you really want to know and reply to me :P

-- Tristan thinks of Naruto storyline and smiles, then frowns at finalwaltz statements.
