Subject: Halo: Evolutions V1&2 Extra Stories

I have the original Evolutions that was a single volume, but I noticed the newer editions each have one additional story. I was wondering if anyone knew if these stories were online somewhere to read as I don't really want to buy 2 new books for just 1 new story for each. I guess the other question would be how long are the stories, i.e. is it something I could just read in a short time at a bookstore without buying it?

I read the extra ones while in the bookstore, like you are suggestion. "Soma the Painter" in Volume I is fairly short, and a quick read. "Wages of Sin" in Volume II is longer, but nothing like the length of "The Mona Lisa" I'd say its about as long as "Stomping on the Heels of a Fuss"

Are they worth it, though? What are they about without giving any spoilers?

I don't know why they decided to do this in the first place?

They should have kept the two new stories and added them in to the next anthology (If they were making one)

Myself, i bought a paper back and a hard back, so that if i dammaged the paperback, i still had a good copy.

But now they want me to buy two more books which are exactly the same as the ones i have, only half the size, with a couple of extra stories. Putting four extra stories in to each volume would have made it more worth while, in my opinion.

What was wrong with the origional, did they think that some of their audiences would be scared of picking up a 500 page book?

To be honest, with Cryptum being released as a hard back, i was a little shocked to find that it was only as big as the others. I expected a little more.

To sum it up, I am very disheartened by the way they are making us buy the book we already have, just for two measly stories!

Very much this

I enjoyed evolutions Alot, but when we were ordering cryptum we noticed "Evolutions volume 2" as a recommended and were all "...Wha?"

I feel like ive been cheated a tad, because i dont think i should have to by 2 halfs of a book i already own to read 2 stories that im not even sure what there about!

Worth buying if you already own the original Evolutions? No, but definitely worth reading the next time you're at a bookstore.

Soma the Painter is about a Forerunner painter (Soma) on the planet G617g, and the appearance of The Flood there. "Wages of Sin" is a writing by the Minister of Discovery during The Flood's invasion of High Charity.

I had some time between classes today so I ran to the campus bookstore, and they did have volume 1 but not v2. I did read Soma the Painter in just a couple of minutes, it was only 4 pages. Guess I'll have to go to a bigger bookstore for volume 2.

I guess I'm not missing out then. Those two stories sound pretty boring.

somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting...

There are other Halo books that might be worth reading, such as the Fall of Reach. I haven't read it but I've heard it is good.

If you want to understand Halo at all, read the books. Otherwise you will be destroyed any time you try to argue a point.

Yeah, the books expand the universe so much from the games. Besides The Flood, which is just a novelized Halo: CE, I have really enjoyed all of them. They should be on the reading list of any Halo fan.
