Subject: Could anything beat the flood?

I am the Troll King.

I mean honestly could, anything? Besides what happened in halo 3. Could any empire or species beat them?

  • 02.01.2011 9:05 AM PDT

Depends on what stage the Flood are in, and what they have at their disposal.

  • 02.01.2011 9:17 AM PDT

I am the Troll King.

Just in general.

Just in general.
There is no "Just in General".

these could easily beat them if they are a good force

I am the Troll King.

Well what do you mean by stage?

  • 02.01.2011 9:26 AM PDT

I am the Troll King.

I dont know. The flood could just infect them.

  • 02.01.2011 9:26 AM PDT

OMG a Pwny!

Yes, it's been done before, the only thing is to find out where it originated and wipe them out there.

  • 02.01.2011 9:28 AM PDT

I am the Troll King.

But could they find the place?

As things progress, the Flood gains both knowledge and technology of those they are infecting.

When the Flood reaches critical mass, a Gravemind is born.

If the Flood gain numorous ships, then that's it. Game Over. You will be assimilated unless you wipe yourself and all others out.

Doesn't solve the problem with localized Graveminds.

  • 02.01.2011 9:31 AM PDT

I am the Troll King.

Ok there is a gravemind.

Error 404:
-Error not found.

Plasma torpedos and such could eliminate graveminds, you just need to have a ship, Master Chief after retreiving coratana, could of had gotten UNSC ships to target the area, if any were avaliable.

That's just it. High Charity blew up, and destroyed his body. Yet the Gravemind lived.

For a Gravemind to die, you need to eradicate the Flood.

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

Not from the halo universe.
But I know quite a few things that can beat them.

I guess the Hunters could since they cant be infected by the flood.
They cannot be infected into combat forms by the infection forms, but they can be infected by the Flood Spore. Of course, they would only be used for biomass, but still.

I am a monument to all your sins

we plausably could, but we'd have to nuke the zone of contamination almost immediatly, which we would be very unlikely to do. Once it spreads the world would be overrun in weeks, maybe less

hours or even minutes actually. The Forerunners couldn't beat them on the ground and could only hold out for a few days. I doubt we could.

Amnyway, you could understandably beat the Flood in the Feral stage (with an immense amount of caution), but if the Gravemind is established, anything anywhere is -blam!- royally.

Once the Flood turn all of its enemy's traits on their enemy (and note they vastly improve on those traits), no matter who you are, you will eventually lose.

The Culture and similar level civilizations could do it. So could the Xeelee and maybe the Photino Birds. Does the Shrike count?

  • 02.01.2011 2:04 PM PDT

Probably not, but it really depends.

Hey there! If you like Star Wars, and would like to be part of my group Mos Eisley then feel free to join!

I'm assuming that a species that has pretty tough skin, and the flood can not infect, would stand a tremendous chance.

The U.E.S.C. Marathon emblem that appears on my profile was designed by me and picked by Bungie [Bungie All-Star competition] to be available for use by anyone on the Bungie forums.
"Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild"

*cough* Halo: Cryptum Spoilers *Cough*
The humans defeated the flood, then got anhilated by the Forerunners. Then the flood returned to terrorize the forerunners.

The infection form was able to pierce John's armor, so I doubt just having tough skin would work.
