Subject: Could anything beat the flood?

Posted by: ForfeitDiablo
A good point... But say they have a supply of "cattle" such as a few hundred of some of the species in halo (each). The xenomorphs would win.

A Xenoporph might win in small scale combat but you forget that the flood are adaptable and we don't know what the effect of flood spores would be on xenoporphs...

also while able to mass infect Necromorphs and the zerg aren't as adaptable

lastly to the machine suporters you know about Mercandiant Bias?

Yes, he wasn't intelligent enough so he fell. And he was Mendicant Bias.

Also that 2401 Penitent Tangent had his circuits messed with, so yes, flood can fool and -blam!- around with robots too, that is if their programming allows it, simple logic that even I can write couldn't be messed with by words, Smart A.I.s are the effing problem!

And yes, flood could be beaten, for all I care we could just bombard them with neutrons and watch them vanish and turn into, hmm, what were they made of again? Oh well.

But in reality, flood would win hands down.

Expect in this case of scenario:

We lived like we have from the beginning of our time to this day in our corner of the universe and the flood in the other corner, not knowing about each other, by the time when we finally meet each other (if we do, that is) flood would know nothing about the higher level thinking as we do. And we might just win. Why? Because they are parasitic and only care about their survival in general level. They infect animals, similar to the ones in our planet, so what? They do not posses enough intelligence capabilities to do anything.

Oh, and I just have to take part in that "You have to kill every flood to kill Gravemind (The intelligence.).

Not true, that telepath(et)ic thing is just bs.
Information doesn't transfer without measurable happenings and the information in their nerve systems ceases to exist when the body dies. Simple as that.

I would take the star wars route- Just throw droid army after droid army at them. It won't feed them, it would just whittle them down. In our Earth? We don't have anything close to being able to beat a flood infestation, probably even if it was just a "small" one.

The flood could be beat, but nothing in the star wars/mass effect or halo universe could stop them.

Reapers? The final cutscene of Mass Effect 2 with Reapers as far as you can see is pretty scary. They'd give the Flood a hell of a fight.
If the Flood had infected enough worlds, they would be able to destroy the reapers from the inside, especially seeing how they are a Hivemind.

ye besides the covies would beat the reapers, 27km long super carrier>1 km long reaper i mean ffs the pillar of auturm is bigger then 1 of them. and they only have kinect sheilds.

forerunners>covies
flood>forerunners

The Gravemind has already shown capabilities of doing so. He's fully capable of speaking through the various flood forms, as noted in multiple instances in Halo 3. Not only that, but his body was destroyed when High Charity was blown up, yet he still lived.

The Flood Supercell Takes the place of the original nervous system.

As for the information transfer, keep in mind that Halo is a Science Fiction/Fantasy game. Not everything is supposed to make since.

Im not crazy...you just have a different view of reality

STAR WARS!!! A single Sith (Darth Nelious) could drain the life from an entire planet to sustain his own life (im not going into any detail)so if the jedi and the sith joined forces the flood would bee doomed to failure. with battle meditation the jedi would be able to predict the next move of thier enemy, add the republic armada and the sepratist fleet (witch consists of 99.99% droids and the flood would be outmatched. plus when a jedi dies they are absorbed into the force so the flood would gain no knowledge from them. togeather agianst a common enemy all the jedi could focus thier power and anhiliate the flood. game, set, match.

Lol, the only thing this person got right was the Darth Nihilus point. Flood can still infect Jedi and absorb their memories. Not all jedi die and become one with the force. Look at the Purge of the Jedi during the Rise of the Empire, all those jedi were left as carcasses. Plus battle meditation doesn't work against a hive mind. Battle meditation works by wearing down the will of the enemy individuals to make them less combat effective. Flood warriors don't have individual wills. At most, battle meditation would make Republic forces more effective soldiers, but it certainly won't make the Flood less effective soldiers.

Droid army point isn't valid because most droids are physically fragile compared to a Flood form's raw power. Look at how the flood combat forms easily bully the Halo Sentinels around. You need metallic Necrons whose technology is so advanced that they basically are animated metal husks with molecular annihilators as weapons

I would have to conclude that the Warhammer 40K Necrons and the Warhammer 40K Daemon armies are the most effective. Neither are able to be assimilated by the Flood and both are physically/technologically/supernaturally more powerful than the Flood

I admit For a high callibur Star wars fan like myself I must stand corrected.

I was a little quick to assume the flood inferrior. but i must correct rst7503 on one point.

of all the sepratist arsenal the only droid that is -weak- is the late model of the B-311 [the standard weak clanker droid] even the newer B-452 is a little stroger. but the AV-3 [Super Battle Droid] is much stronger, probably easily capable to smash a flood battle form.

but if you want true power to litterily smash all flood then you want the MR12 [aka: Crab Droid] that mecanical monstrocity is pretty easy to defeat from above but i believe even one could demolish many many flood ground units.

also the blaster weapons fire a focused beam of super heated light energy [a laser beam] much like the sentenal beam but far more effective so a single bolt would probably kill a flood. plus the rate of production for droids is emense.

oh lol and thank you for correcting my spelling of nehilios... nihilos.. nihililos.. ugh... ;]

If they get that Flood-proof hormone from Sergeant Johnson, there'll be a cure for the Flood infection! So we can win!

Not as adaptable? The Zerg are the monsters that don't need to steal Tech to get amongst the stars.

Ah yes, an A.I. that The Gravemind talked into joining his cause?

Most Machine races don't have to worry about that. Most Are programed to follow a strict set of orders, or has been programed to be Obedient.

An example is a Bolo MK33. This Nuke Toting, Mountain sized, Planetary Seige tank is AI controled, to be Unfaillingly loyal to Humanity. Your average Flood force would need to break out heavier weapons than they can get outside of Forerunner tech.

Another Example is the Necrons; Your average Warrior is basicly Brain Dead at this point, and the Lords are Loyal to The C'tan.

Hmm.... Speaking of the C'tan, I'd Love to see the Deceiver or the Nightbringer have his way with the GraveMind. >:]

True dat. (or even precursors, if they turned out not to be the flood according to some theories here)

The Playstars

what about tyranids

their acid may prevent the flood from infecting them

No, you don't seem to get it, when flood dies, or is completely vaporized, the cells die and lose their information.

I'm not saying that he can't talk trough other flood forms, just that a) He can't transfer information without something measurable (Ultralow/high soundwaves, radiowaves (epic -blam!-, organic transmitter? I'd really want that! :D), or something else.

That body inside High Charity was nothing but a information (and processing) center. He lost some of his information there, but a helluva lot of the information still existed somewhere else.

And Halo doesn't feature any magic and unicorns, the way gravemind talks to us in H3 is by some weird way we yet to have discovered, but it's not telepathic. : )

But yes, as I described above, flood would win in almost every case expect the one I described.
