Marathon remakes

Old School

only if it were a complete overhaul and recretion from the ground up. as much as i am for nostalgia of old school games, a standard port wouldnt cut it.

I am a practicing traditional Catholic.

As long as it was fully remade with next-gen graphics and software and not just a re-release like the XBL download, than yes.

Yes. I'd love it.

But only if they kept the terminals instead of making more cheesy cutscenes. At the most, spruce up the cutscenes with some animatinons/images, audio rercordings (but NOT of Durandal and Tycho, how lame would that be). Like in ODST.

One problem though is that recent bungie have been quite poor at rendering indoor environments or urbanscapes.

However, another option is to tell some of Marathon's illustrious backstory leading up to the launch of the Marathon spaceship. You've got the creation of the battleroids to suppres rebels on Mars, the first AI to go rampant (Traxus IV) and cause chaos on the Martian settlements... and other stuff they could make up. Or they could tell the story of how the seven Mjolnir security troops on Tau Ceti faught off the initial Phor invasion (while you took care of things on board marathon.) that would basically be like Reach, but with whatever knew engine technology they come up with.

Yes, but without having to read the story from those stupid computers...

  • 02.02.2011 9:23 AM PDT

Yes, as long as its a full remake with better graphics.

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

I don't mean to sound like fanboy but only 360 and pc should get it.

I mean what has the ps3 done for bungie? but if it comes to the ps3 so be it.

but ye i would like to see what it is like.

If you're going to use that argument then I can say that Marathon should never have been on the PC because it was Mac exclusive for a while and PC "never did anything for Bungie" back then, as you would put it.

There is nothing wrong with games going multiplatform. All it means is that more people get to enjoy great games. For example I'm happy PS3 owners get to enjoy the Mass Effect series now. It's now going to be more popular and gives Bioware even more of reason to continue supporting the franchise.

To talk about the topic, at first I really wanted to see a marathon reboot/remake but the more I think about it the less I want. Marathon is already perfect. How can you improve on perfection? I know that's not really an argument but a lot of Marathon's conventions that made it what it is would be considered dated by today's modern gaming populace such as the whole story being told though text.
