I managed to get one last night. It was really short though. I saw my step-brother coming out of the toilet with a tray filled with cookies. I knew something was wrong as he lives 100 kilometers away. Flying and walking through walls -> awesome.

Our troops are facing towards the Sun,
Stepping on the earth of Motherland,
Carrying the nation's hope,
We are an indomitable power!
Our troops are facing towards the Sun;
Marching towards the final victory
And the liberation of entire country!

I used to be able to control my dreams but now I can't! Help me!

Concerning reality checks
I know a bunch, but I've heard of a few reality checks, that im unsure about.

Disrupted water in a cup doesn't stop moving
Coins keep spinning
Jumping makes you float
You can breathe underwater

Are any of these true, and do they work well?

While im at it, when performing a reality check, do I do a single test or several?

i generally go lucid right at the end. i pretty much only have nightmres though.

Lucid dreams aren't dream you remember, they are dreams you control.
A study was done and it was discovered that brain activity completely ceased during nightmares. Which means something else is creating your nightmares, you are no longer in control.

I usually go somewhat lucid near the end as well, as in after a while I start to be in control, however it's not like I know I'm dreaming, but I make my own decisions within the dream.

Also,

Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real?
What if you were unable to wake from that dream?
How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?

Also, lucid dreaming might be kind of a useful skill.

Perhaps you were in the middle of a dream, and there was a murderer in your house (in real life) and he hit you on the head super hard, and though you were dead, but you were just in a coma, trapped in the dream until the coma is over.

You don't want this to be like the Matrix, do you?

Um, if you die in your lucid dream,do you do die in real life?
I heard that,so I stoppoed lucid dreaming to play it safe.

no its has no physical effect,, i was lucid dreaming and was in harvest and got stabbed by an elite, i was going to black and realised its a dream and wrenched the sword out the elites hands and slit its throat

WIN!

I've been doing this for a while. When I was small, I had a dream that I was being chased by a T-Rex.

Then, just as it was about to eat me, I made it small, and kicked it down a drain. Although now, in my 7 hours of sleep, I get little REM compared to what I once got. Still get the occasional moment where I go "Hey, let's try <insert crazy stunt here>!"

Recently it included parachuting onto a trampoline and bouncing back up into the plane because I forgot my chute.

Holy Crap when I was 3 I had two nightmares in a row where I got chased and eaten. The first was where I was at a local playground, and I was being chased by a fat orange Mario. He was tiny when he wasn't close, but suddenly he'd be close and 8 feet tall! I climbed up onto the Highest part of the jungle gym, but I fell off into a swarming mass of giant orange fat marios!

Then I woke up, complained to my parents, and went back to bed.

The next dream, I was in the Land before Time getting chased by a giant evil talking T-rex.

Holy crap. I had one last night.

Very vivid as well, where godzilla attacked my hometown...
I thought it was real :S

I've had that before!

Watching a basketball game, when suddenly there's a big crash, and when the dust clears, Godzilla's head'ssticking out of the wall where the hoop should be!

I just had one last night, but I did a dangerous technique to "check" reality; long story short I jumped off of a cliff and told myself that if I was in a dream, I would go straight through the floor and land right where I was. The surprising thing was it worked, and as a reward to myself for a job well done; I also told myself there was a girl around the next rock. ;)

No thanks, OP. Sleep paralysis is way too creepy to endure to have a dream where I control stuff.

I can already do that when I'm awake. It's called imagination.
sleep paralysis is not creepy it happened to me last night before i even knew about lucid dreams. its kinda a weird feeling tho it happened to my arms. i just lost control of them and they just flopped around for like 10 sec.

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

I've had my first lucid dream, but I got excited by a snake biting me. My dream went like this....

I was all of a sudden in a campground.
There was trees,grasses and mounds.
As I turned I say a boy.
He was sad so I created him a toy.
As I turned around to see more
I looked into a snakes deep core.
Then it striked and it bit me
My mind was no longer free.

2 things
1. I purposly rhymed this to make it more entertaing for folks.
2. I didn't use your steps but now I am.

Thx-wildnuke

I know a trick, if you leave a scary movie on and fall asleep to it, youll have a nightmare

That's an interesting trick, but it won't work on me. I prefer the sleeping in trick. It actually worked this morning. Certainly a weird sensation. I had woken up a bit too much for the full experience though...

I'm taking the High Road

I had the weirdest dream two nights ago.

I was lying down in a field with my family watching the Universe and all the nice colors, kinda like fireworks going off.
We were lying down around a fire.

There were spaceships flying around the sky too.

And then my brother started fingering his girlfriend.

Sleep paralysis is when you cant move but you're awake, your eyes are open though.
It is basically trolling my brother.

interesting

do you know if these reality checks work or not?
Disrupted water in a cup doesn't stop moving
Coins keep spinning
Jumping makes you float
You can breathe underwater

and when I do a check, should I just do one or several at a time?

I had my first one (kind of) the other night. I dreamt I got in late from seeing friends (we went to Ireland for some reason...), and my parents were about to have a go at me. Then I realised I was in a dream and didn't have to listen to my verbal reprimand, so I decided to wake up. It was weird, cos I wasn't trying to lucid dream, it just happened...
