I became really interested in Lucid Dreaming at the beginning of this year. I was a bit of a skeptic, but I managed to do it once.

One of my relatives who had passed away a while back was in my dream. I looked at them for a while, and realised that this had to be a dream. So I went outside and tried to fly~ It was so blemen difficult and I kept crashing into the ground, but I managed to fly over my house X)

I was so excited when I woke up and felt I had to tell my mum about the phenomenon. Big mistake. She went nuts and said it was all crap, and to never do it again. So I stopped trying for a while. Now when I do try, I haven't been able to lucid dream. Have I lost this ability for good or if I keep persisting will it come back?

No thanks, OP. Sleep paralysis is way too creepy to endure to have a dream where I control stuff.

I can already do that when I'm awake. It's called imagination.

I've been trying for a few weeks and can't get it down. Any tips?

Have you been remembering more dreams recently and in how much detail. Don't worry, keep on trying and you will have one. The first one will feel amazing, i guarantee it.

Yeah, I've only forgotten like four in the past month.

Is there any way to increase how often I dream or remember my dreams? I just looked in my dream journal and I have only 3 entries this month.

How do I know my subconscious isn't tricking me (let's say your methods of checking reality don't work) that I am currently inside a dream and when I have a lucid dream it would be a dream inside my dream?

If you really feel that it isn't a dream, treat it as if it was reality.

The concept is all that really matters.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I had a dream about Death last night. Like, a twisted story of how he came to be and all that. It was more of a metaphysical narration that ended with a Latin synonym for "soul."

Does this mean something bad's gonna happen?

Anima? I doubt it. You're just subconsciously thinking too much about the subject of death.

How do you know when you've gone lucid? I've had plenty of dreams where I thought I was in control just to have woken up and realized it was more like watching a movie.

I'm insane and I know it. That's what I like about myself.

Been keepin a journal now because of the dreams I've been havin over the past week or so. I've been having some really crazy ones.

But once I start lucid dreaming the story shall begin.

I'm not really sure. I think she sees it as more of a spiritual thing, and doesn't want me caught up in it. It's hard debating things with her without WW3 breaking out <_<

Eh. Still gonna keep trying.

Vegans never die they just regrow.

I had them since I was a kid about 7. All this flying and exploring is great. My latest dream was pretty interesting, the setting was a rather large run down appartment block, As usual I went to explore it and found that it was occupied by people I have known from sight (you know the people that live in the same town and you have seen more than once but not really talked to)so I recognised all of them but couldn't fit them into my relationships. The real good part was, that they all seem to react positively to my presence. A feeling of warmth and community filled the spaces as if we were readying ourselves for a spiritual ascension of our consciousness. Weird!! I wonder if people like us lucid dreamers are actually in contact with each other when we dream.

If she didn't give a good reason as to why you shouldn't lucid dream, do it anyway.

When you lucid dream, you leave behind no proof of doing so unless you write it down in a dream journal, meaning you can lucid dream without her knowing.

Your mother probably thinks she is protecting you by not wanting you to lucid dream. Try to discuss lucid dreaming with her and let her know what it truly is and how it is not some evil sin, but is instead a healthy way to make good use of your dreams.

Try to find out her reasoning behind why she doesn't want you to lucid dream, and try to debate against that reasoning. But don't argue, discuss. If she gets angry, she won't listen to you. Keep her calm though, and she may pay attention to what you have to say.

It wasn't Anima, I can tell you that. I don't even think it was a word, but the subtitles during the scene said "soul."

I haven't truly thought about death in well over a year, actually. Peculiar....

And then last night, I had a very realistic dream about an alien invasion. Not like "pew-pew, explosions, America saves the day" kind of invasion, like "omg giant walker vehicles and advanced firepower, we're doomed" invasion.

Basically, instead of resisting the threat, I just sat there and waited for my inevitable fate to arrive, while listening to a radio telling how hopeless the willing resistance was. Though their tactics were working, to a limited extent. They'd shoot Klondike bars into the barrels of the alien firearms, and they'd cease to function.

I was alone at my house with my grandmother, but I didn't know where my father was. All I know is that I was sobbing.
