well when you enter REM sleep your body locks down so you act out your dreams, in your sleep your body normally unlocks just before you wake up but somethings
(very rarely) your body doesn't unlock because you woke up really suddenly and you cant move. swallowing restarts your body so if it happens just swallow its all good

Sleep paralysis is what your body does when sleeping, basically it locks muscles in place so that any actions that your subconscious performs in a dream isn't re-enacted in real life (sleep walking ect). Occasionally you may wake up suddenly and your body has yet to recover from paralysis so you can't move, often enough just go back to sleep or try swallowing to kick start your muscles. Focusing purely on movement also helps as well.
I find it better to just got back to sleep as you can almost always have a WILD dream because of paralysis.

Ok....
i was just a little worried cause i sleep on my stomach so if i woke up when i was facing my pillow or something i would like suffocate.... i know im a worrier. but then i guess if it happens whenever you sleep it wouldent be a valid fear anyway.
BUT I AM SOOOO GOING TO TRY THIS.

A simple life.

Last night I had a crazy lucid dream. It may or may not have been hash induced, and it may or may not have included GIANT friendly spiders.

I don't see a reason why having your face in your pillow would suffocate you, by this logic then you would just suffocate because your face is on it. Also sleep paralysis is quite rare and nothing to be disturbed by.

Like i said i worry WAY too much sometimes. But anyway thanks for posting this i thought about it before but now im actually going to try this.

This seriously sounds like some science fiction stuff the way it is described :P Not saying I don't believe it...just sounds so unreal.

I know when I was younger, I frequently suffered from nightmares (I hated the dark so I think this triggered my nightmares). I could never control the turnout of those dreams but I was conscious enough during them to literally start shaking my head in real life to wake my body. At the first sign of a bad dream, something in my mind triggered and I knew I was having a nightmare. Rather than altering the dream, I would just wake myself up.

I wouldn't say it is the same as lucid dreaming but none the less it was an interesting phenomenon. I've never tried to recreate my awareness during dreams but I'm sure it's somewhere close to lucid dreaming.

It may seem a little bit complicated but it isn't really when you get down to the base principals. IN response to the aforementioned dreams they could be called lucid as you are conscious of it being a nightmare; however you could only end the dream bringing into the question the strength of the lucidity.
Also if you feel like you are confused feel free to ask for advice or just some experiences from me or other members.

also i'm not saying this because it was in a movie but.... if you have one of those spinning top things.... spin it after you wake up because sometimes your lucid dreams are so realistic you don't know if your actually awake after you wake up so if you spin it and it doesn't stop your still dreaming and if it stops your awake.... some people say its fake but its not....

I forgot to rap up my gift for the covenant, I guess I'll just give it to them, with my sniper...

I remember I had a lucid dream, I was flying around. then it ended. I woke up and I couldn't open my eyes. I'm ok now.

Is it normal in my dream if I see what's going to happen the next hour. Like I was in a dream and I toured in my own house. I literally saw everything that was going to happen that day. It all happened. Is this bad?

That's almost like my experiences. I used to hardly ever dream, but now it happens alot more. My dreams, though, are weird, messy composites of things and never make full sense.

They do, at times, tend to be precognitive. :/

Weird, last week I had this dream where I thought everyone else was dreaming. Like, I dreamed that were share dreaming. I told them that we were dreaming and then I told them to look at their hands. Then the scene changed at I thought we woke up.

Many dark and insidious matters reside in my mind. Only a few leak into the conscious realm.

A tormented soul, like you.

I was in my house. I keep an M4 airsoft rifle under my bed.

I dreamed I was under attack and I changed my rifle into a real gun and killed these people invading my home. Then I woke up. :(

When I broke my ankle, I needed crutches to walk. I called them "Armor" and "Lock"

Those are most likely false awakenings. You dream that you wake up and go through your day normally. It's not bad, but it does drive you nuts sometimes.

I've tried this repeatedly but no matter what I do I have the same dream, every night for the past four years. I don't have a physical body in the dream, its just an infinite world filled with this weird black smoke and grey ambience. No ground nothing but the smoke and the grey background. I can move, but its just I exist there, I don't really have a body of any sort.
