I seen numerous threads about how Reach shatters the established Canon that we have now and i have a simple request. How does Halo: Reach not fit into the overall Canon of the universe? I wish to be educated further on the matter so i can have a complete understanding of where Reach fits into this puzzle we know has Halo (if it does at all).

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

It's spelled "Canon" Hurry before a lot of people start posting pictures of Colonial cannons.

To answer you're question, here's an example, sometime in August, chief was on Reach training with Cortana, and in the game, Reach was battling the Covenant all month, wouldn't chief have been deployed knowing they are at war?

The books set it as Reach fell in one day, August 30th, 2552.
The game set it as Reach fell in over a month, from July 24, 2552 to August 30th, 2552.

I wish they kept the original campaign idea. Remember the world premiere release and you see Noble Team rush to Reach being glassed? THAT was canon, It was on August 30th, Reach is under attack, I would have much preferred a Real time game all taking place in one day which lasted 27 hours.

I would love to try and list all the discrepancies, but Private Caboose beat me to it.

This is an excellent thread to answer your questions.

Thanks you two (sorry for misspelling Canon by the way), i'll check out the link. I just started reading the books but man...what was wrong with the first VGA trailer when the covies invaded? It would have fitted more into the Canon....

I'll save the thread and read all the pages at a later time. Thanks again.

A lot people are seriously overreacting, sure things have been changed and there are now some inconsistancies that haven't been smoothed over yet, but a great deal was fixed and smoothed over into a nice whole again by Halsey's Journal, which came with the Limited and Legendary Editions of Reach. And some of it was explained in the back stories for Noble Team before the game came out.

I would say listen to what Privet Caboose has to say, but interpret what he says your own way, he is one of the ones who, imho anyway, is overreacting to the changes the most. For instance he won't really listen to any theories, some very plausible and well thought out, that try to explain what Bungie/343 hasn't yet.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but if you want to hear from a more neutral side of the debate as well here's my thread discussing the mater.

It's not that I don't listen to them, I consider each theory I read and based on other information and knowledge from the Halo Series I debunk it or claim it as implausible. I also feel that it isn't our job to try and strain and bend canon to the absolute limit where it breaks the realm of plausibility just to make some ridiculous thing like the UNSC "keeping the invasion quiet" fit into canon.
