Im not crazy...you just have a different view of reality
I Strongly believe a game like the one I am about to describe to you would sell like crazy a Halo RTS-FPS game. a multi-player based game, mix Halo Reach And Halo Wars with up to four players per console, one selected player is the Overlord is in RTS mode And has a vertical view of the battle field, while the other players see the battle field in FPS mode.
The Overlord would play the part of the Leader, basically he/she would build the bases, train the troops, construct the vehicles, deploy the troops ect, ect.
The other players would play as Spartans and actually be in the battle as troops. this would create an experience unlike any other.
Imagine, Youre standing guard on a slightly inclined hill, in the distance you can see a massive swarm of enemy troops heading toward youre position (were talking 50-100 units heading youre way, wraiths, ghosts, elites, brutes the whole nine yards) and with you about 20-30 marines and a few Scorpion tanks, A massive Fire fight ensues and you find youre self fighting a loosing battle. So you call the Overlord and say that youre being overrun and need reinforcements ASAP, All of a sudden A pair of pelican drop ships zoom overhead and drop off some marine reinforcements and some more tanks come in behind you to help hold the line,
This Epic warfare type combat would be the first of its kind! Imagine you could be in the fight with hundreds of men and vehicles and unlike other games you are not a key part of the battle, yes you will probably be better than the average bot, but as you are fighting a whole other battle is taking place somewhere else.
In other words the battle doesnt revolve around you and victory is not dependant on you, you are simply one soldier doing his part. For the Overlord his role is basically the same as in Halo Wars. (but I suppose victory is dependant on him just as real battle is dependant on leaders)
All the finer details are still to be figured. And I understand that this will require a major technological feat, But I recently learned of a game for the Ps3 called MAG in witch 100 plus players fight each other in a huge battle, so if it is possible to stage a battle with 100 plus players then staging a battle with 4-8 players and 100-200 bots shouldnt be any more difficult.
How would this look? Well for the overlord Imagine playing halo wars but with a twist thare are players also so you couldent command the players [unless you just lean over and tell them or by mic] but you could send a pelican that they could get into.
the screen would be split into 4 [depending on the amount of players on console] or in system link it would just be one i guess.
as for the players they would have classic halo style first person mode. and they would be able to select loadouts [sniper, demolition, assault, ect] and they can interact with tanks, aircraft, ect. and try to destroy bases and stuff...
The pure Epicness of a game of this callibur would be downright unbelieveable. And with that I will leave you to youre imagination.
