Thanks, Zen. I just got off the phone with Ritesh after a really long talk. He didn't know anything about the official Bungie servers, and actually denied their existence until I pointed out the list on the Halo FAQ. He said he's a Halo 2 player (GT: Merlin) and hates friendly fire as much as I do. He also said there's talk about disabling FF in Halo 2 altogether... but no plans for Halo PC. I went to great lengths to describe the constant problems with Halo PC, official servers, and FF, to the point of ranting, and I think he gets the message now. He said what a lot of others say about Bungie; their hands are so full of Halo 2 that they literally don't have time to even look here at the forum or at email regarding Halo or any other past games. But then he entertained the idea of re-coding Halo PC to include a client-side toggle for FF. Not that I'd mind that at *all* but I pointed out that if someone with access to the servers would simply unset FF, that's a heck of a lot less work than modifying the Halo source code (or maybe not, I'll never know). He agreed with that point but ultimately couldn't make the changes himself and is just as much in the dark as to who can access BUNGIE-* servers as anyone else. On the bright side, he's going to forward our entire conversation back to MS support, as well as to Bungie for further consideration. I'm unhappy that we didn't resolve the FF issue through our conversation, but I'm half-happy to hear about Halo 2 and I hope that my case moves forward and doesn't get dropped or lost like so many others have experienced. Until then I don't what else I can personally do about TK'ers, but Iggwilv has an awesome server we can all use (well, 16 at a time) and I'm planning on leasing a server myself in the near future. Sorry for the length of this rant... I'm kinda hyped!
Word of advice: if you're gonna type a lot of stuff, at least break it up into several paragraphs. You have around 5 seconds to get my attention before I break off and stop reading.
I speak for many, many other people who have internet access.
Anyways, back on topic. You are right: there is very little we can do to stop the tkers on public servers. I found that out after I started my clan.
