Personally, I think (no offense Bungie)that the makers of the game should respect the game canon and consider it when constructing the story, NOT cause discrepancy.

Think about it this way. If you created an universe, and other people created some canon, wouldn't you want your canon to have a higher priority than theirs?

I wish they would work harder to keep all the canon in line, but it is their universe.

... because the books exist to supplement the games? No Halo CE, no FoR.

But remember, Eric Nylund created a story that was considered canon, but was thrown out the door when Bungie made Reach.

CoD is a good game, even if the Halo series are better in some aspects. Anyone who insults either is just bad in that game. Grow up.

TFoR is as much Eric Nylund's as Bungie's. When he wrote the book, it was with the materials, info, and established parameters from Bungie, the point, though, is that Bungie's story writers gets worse and worse after each game.

Pretty much this, though now it's out of Bungie hands and in 343's, but the point is still the same. The material put out by the owner of the series will trump that put out be anyone else, even if it is legally licensed material, in terms of canon.

I am a practicing traditional Catholic.

Because Bungie made the series and what they say always goes more than some author. They're the creators after all. Besides, Bungie always make it good. Authors usually make it good.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Because Halo is a video game.

Bungie created the canon and they have the right to alter it in small ways if they want to.

Bungie and 343 shouldn't be handcuffed and limited in what they can do in games just because some canon piece fan fiction contradicts some small details of the plot.
