I recently aquired Halo for my PC. It is a new HP Pavilion a1240n with WinXP, a built-in 128MB vid card, Pentium 4 Processor with HT Tech, and with Alltel DSL, it'll load the games list on mulitplayer, but it wont let me connect. Can anyone please tell me what going on?

I've had the same problem when trying to connect to a multiplayer server. I can't fix it, and I've allowed Halo and haloupdates to run through my firewall, but something isn't working. Halp is you can!

I too am having this problem... however its worked fine ever since I have had the game but today, it's stopped and I no longer get any servers listed!

Any ideas anyone? Has something changed or broken on the gamespy network?

Yes I am getting the exact same thing, thought it was on my side so i reinstalled Halo and re-updated everything and still nothing. Hoping its just something to do with Gamespy, but rather annoying. No firewall here or anything either.

For me it was playing just fine before, but now when I go to multiplayer and click get list, no names/maps/servers come up. I recently deleted some adaware before this happened, windupdate or whatever.

Yesterday (and many days before that) I could list all the servers online and connect to any I tried. Today there is nothing listed. At all. I suspect this is GameSpy's fault, but am I biased as I hate them for pestering me to install their damn product all the time, despite my already owning it.

Anyway, it seems the servers are all still running, as I can connect to them using a direct IP perfectly well. I like the EU-Bungie-CTF ones here:

213.199.132.81:2304
213.199.132.81:2306
213.199.132.81:2309
etc

... but there is a full list of (Bungie-run) Halo servers somewhere else on bungie.net.

If any Bungie types are reading this, please contact GameSpy and swear at them loudly until the server listing service is resumed.

Thank you.

Yup - gamespy strikes again.

Why oh why do bungie rely on such a group of amateurs?

Mind you - the UI of Halo looks like it was thrown together in a day....

...fail to connect to a server and it throws you back to the main screen??? I mean - get modal guys.

You can find any server in Xfire.

Get it here: http://www.xfire.com

I had the same problem. I reinstalled Halo, took down my firewalls, and then the server list became available. I can play, but the pings are higher than usual. Public servers are not showing, and games that should be <100 ping are about 500.

I think a day is generous...

I was playing fine last night, but haven't got on today yet. Smells like Game Spy is having issues. We need to start banging on there tech support forums to get their attention. They'll fix it, when they know about it.
