It would be a gun that fires little hypodermic needles with some sort of silicon compound in that expands under low pressure, so when it hits the target, the silicon is forced in and, being a lower pressure than in the needle, it would expand and cause some nasty damage. That's what I say, anyway...

Yeah i agree... you deserve a medal...
But how do you explain about the explosion??
I think the neddle has a electromagnetic field that when its near with an other neddle it couses a explosion in some kind of silicon compund, as you said.

Keep in mind that Halsey's journal states that there are no electrical componants in the firing mechanism.
