Hey all. P. Roy here. If you were to learn a martial arts style or any other type of fighting style, what would you pick? Personally, I'd pick She Quan. Badass!

Kick Boxing is probably the most practical in an actual fight. I already do Judo and Boxing. Most martial arts nowadays are just an art, and not as practical as they should be.

Sorry if i insult any karate or other martial art guys, I'd just rather be a kickboxer/boxer that is trained to take and deliver blows rather than someone who uses just plain form to fight with.

Usually they are trained to take blows as well. I think I'll look into that.

Krav Maga it is a martial arts the military learns and it teaches you how to kill. So in a real fight most likely someone with that training will fair much better.

They learn how to punch, but when they actually spar, they pull punches, so they don't know what it's like to take a full hit. I've got 3 friends that take martial arts, all 3 are blackbelts, and only one of them would last30 secs in a street fight. The other 2 are blackbelts in taekwando, but they became blackbelts because they have mastered all the moves and know all the information, yet they couldn't bench 150 lbs if they wanted to, and they don't know what it's like to get hit, or what it's like to hit another person.

In boxing, I get hit, so I've learned to take the pain. I've also hit other people, so i know how to hit hard. I don't know what it's like in other countries, but most martial arts in America don't get you in shape for a real fight. Even the Judo which i take wouldn't be extemely useful unless the other person decided to only use legal judo moves, and let me grab hold of him.

Well in the context of real fighting Krav Maga is your best bet. It mixes all the good things of most martial arts. It also teaches you to use what you have around you to your advantage and how to fend off armed combatants ie: bat, knife, etc

if you're talking about practicality, then you should look into some form of grappling. well, i guess it also depends on how big you are. it doesn't make any sense for a light person to grapple if they're just going to get thrown around. i'm 6'3" 250 lbs. so any fight i get into (few, hopefully) is going to the ground.
btw, here's a little lesson i'd like to share with all the kids that want to learn how to do some fruity Jet Li / Jackie Chan pistol disarm technique. it's taken from one of Richard Pryor's routines. it's called RUN.

I am not that heavy so in a fight i would be looking for more disabling maneuvers. Or if i am outnumbered i don't care about any respect for my opponent i would just use whatever i could to beat them back. In a real street fight put practicality and how to deal with it as fast and with as little injuries to yourself as possible.

sorry, i didn't mean to give off the impression that only heavy guys should grapple. we've just got it easier.

Aim for the eyes and kneecaps. Eyes are very vulnerable, and if you bust a kneecap, they won't get back up.

If I could I would use that drunken fighting style. The trick is not to passout after the fight.

Or during
