Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

After reading Cryptum several things occurred to me, many of which don't make actual sense. I don't have the book on me, so feel free to correct me with hard fact wherever I go astray.

Prior to Cryptum we assumed the Array worked like this:

All 7 Halos would fire systematically, wiping out all life in the galaxy. Forerunners and non-infected populations would be housed in the Shield Worlds and Ark, protected from the Halos.

But now we learned that the Halo Array initially had 12 rings, not 7. And that the Shield Worlds project created by The Didact, had no relation to the Halo rings. In fact they were totally separate projects competing with each other in how they would combat the Flood.

On top of all this the Halos were designed as local weapons, to sterilize single solar systems or clusters of solar systems. Not as a galaxy wide nuke effect.

So the question is if the Shield Worlds themselves have nothing to do with the Halos, what was their purpose? A few trillion pissed off Sentinels can take apart a few ships defensively, but in the way they're arranged installations like Onyx wouldn't be suited for offensive strategies.

Wouldn't be suited for offensive strategies? They took out an Entire Covenant Fleet! That is more than enough firepower, and the point of these "Shield Worlds" are very confusing, as in Ghost of Onyx, they were teleported, far from the Milky Way i'm sure, thus leading to a possible Halo 4, Chief landing on the shield world they were teleported to and he finds them, this is just a theory but there is still several things that need to be explained.

I like turtles

No, the Halo's took out all life large enough to support Flood infection, and consumption within 25,000 Light Years, or atleast that is what it said in H1.

As for the Charuum Hakkor testing, that was only a fraction of Halo's true power.

an Individual halo can be fired on low enough power setting to affect only a single system.

as for all this shield world nonsense i have no idea.

Maybe their exactly that: Shields. Set up in a solar system so if some clueless fleet come swingin' on by, they'd be dead quicker then you when Kat's driving.
