I got Halo a few weeks ago and I've almost beat it on legendary. (3 more levels) But everytime I play I hear Cortana mention something about Captain Keyes's neural implants.

Why does the captain have nueral implants? Does he have some kind of a brain disease? I've tried doing my research on captain keyes but I can't find anything. so, what's the story?

Technically, the neural implants could be used for many things like enhancing accuracy, agilitly, the basics.

For Keyes, you need the Neural implants to overload the ship's fusion engines and destory the horse you rode in on. Hence the level 'Keyes'.

Get it? They are your keys

All puns intended <3

like master chief has a neural implant to contain cortana. . .also, the implant is the little bit master chief takes after smashing Keyes' head in, you see it in his hand as he shakes the flood mucus off.

The neural implant is so Cortana can detect where everyone is. Using this, a crewmember can find another by asking Cortana where they are. She locks onto their implant and he/she can go get them.

It is also the backup for when things go wrong. If the captain is dead and the crew know they need to carry out a procedure with a high authority level, they can take the captains implant to show the consturct they mean business. It is quite literally the key to the ship if the captain is unavailable.

Unavailable. Heh. It just makes me laugh, no offense or anything.

"I'm sorry, our captian is unavailabe at the moment, but we brought these neural implants from his brain, he should return shortly."

You get what I mean. If the captain is dead and he can't order the contruct to do something, the others have to get the implant to show they mean business.

PS. If you're confused to why I said "You get what I mean", its because I have just made this account. I'm sick of people having really similar names to me (SPARTAN blah blah is really common) so I've made this account.

It also, I would imagine, work much the same way the foot-ball is for the President. It holds all of the ships high-end weapon systems safety release codes (MAC gun, nukes, etc). The benefit of having all of the codes in his implant is that Cortana could just access them when ever the captain gave the order to fire and unlock the weapons so that the person at the fire-control station could, well, fire what ever weapon the captain ordered.

It would be even better if the captian didn't know these codes. So the only way a ship could fire its main weapons. is for the captian to order in, while on the ship.

I know what you mean't. I just find it funny that 'unavailable' was used, like when someone says a person is unavilable you expect them to come back..ah nevermind, humor my twisted mind <33
