Subject: What Halo 3 means to you.

I just came on B.net for the first time in about a year to make this exact thread. Itunes just decided to slam me with some nostalgic Halo 3 soundtrack (choose wisely i think the song was) and i almost cried.

I miss Halo 3 so much, and even though there are still dedicated fans, as small as their population may be, it will never come back to life.

The Glory days of Big Team and Custom games are my fondest memory of gaming. I picked up Halo 3 on it's launch day and played it consistently for nearly 3 years, i made so many friends and have so many amazing memories from it.

Reach was a good game, but neither it, nor any game that will ever be made, could live up to Halo 3. To me, it was the greatest investment i've ever made and i'll remember the fun i had for years (as foreveralone as that sounds)

It meant a lot to me, games will never be as good and the sense of community that was the Halo 3 fanbase will never exist again.

I feel pretty much the same way as you OP. I mean, Reach doesnt have that halo "feel". In fact, it feels more like a Call of Duty Tbh. And Reach gets quite repetitive whereas H3 is something new everytime, or thats the way i see it atleast.

Halo 3 was the change from simple single player games for me. In fact, it was my first xbox 360 game. I was stunned by the graphics from the very beginning, but to my amazement things kept getting better.

Before Halo 3, games never seemed to be able to captify you for more than a month or two (with the exception of the GTA series.) But when Halo came along all of the sudden I had my hands on a game that I would cherish for nearly two years. It was something my family and friends played and loved as much as me and that will never change. Call me nerdy but Halo has hdad a very deep impact on my life not only because of the gameplay itself, but also the way you could interact with the community. It was great to be able to what I loved to do with other people any time I wanted. Not to rip on call of duty, but honestly I feel really detatched from the other players when I play nowadays...it's just i don't know...maybe just a kind of hostile environment with other players.

Halo 3 also was the game I met some of my very best Xbox live friends on and frankly i havent met any new friends on Reach or Black Ops.

I could ramble on for hours about how great Halo 3 was for me, but this comment is already crazy enough with my terrible organization. But finally, in the end what I really want to get across to all you readers is that no matter what ANYONE says Halo 3 was a mindblowingly awsome game that will never be forgotten by all gamers alike.

Long live the Chief! Long live Halo!
(Man pride lol^)

Reach lacks the Halo "feel" because it lacks the massive community support the players provided and it doesn't quite have the same feeling of...care (<<<the closest word I can think of to the feeling) that the previous Halo's had honed so perfectly.

Halo3 captived me during months, I remeber I loved to do the campaign before having the XBL.

I miss Halo 3, I actually play it more than Reach. Its just a shame I can't really do Big Team Battles anymore...just such a tiny population...

I don't even play Reach, even though I have the LE.

Same here, I got the legendary edition. Halo 3 is what the halo series is to me. The first thing that draws my attention to 3 over reach is the graphics. I would best describe halo 3s graphics as clean and smooth, similar to a painting. For some reason I always feel so much more bad ass and accomplished when I 4 shot somebody rather than a 5 shot. Let's not forget, the Spartans look so much more awesome in 3 also.

Halo 3 will always will be the best game ever made. When ever I play a different game I always compare it to halo 3. Oh and btw, btb heavy on sand trap will always be the best btb variant EVER.

Only played halo 3 multiplayer for about 18 months and not as much as I do reach, so I didn't get to used to it and so I prefer reach. However I do miss brute choppers...

I felt that way about H2.

If you played H2, this will really bring you back hard.

H2 was just such a pure game. A player could really shine through in that game. Nothing held you back. There was a connection between mind and game that I have not seen since.

There was just no limit in H2. And this video proves it.

I say, Halo Reach is a good game, but its not halo. I have no idea why, but when you play Reach you just don't feel like your playing halo.

My Hypothesis is that the lack of gregorian music, no masterchief, and armor abilities have just made it not halo

I will also say the Reach Campaign was good, but you just can't go back and play it again and agin like Halo 3

I will aslo add that, not to brag, but that I was the "God at Halo 3" I mean, I alwasy played above average and dominated, but in Halo Reach I'm just slightly above average. My overall K/D is 1.06. Somehow, Bungie has evened out the gameplay where there is less something invoved in getting kills. In Halo 3 it was cleat when you were a good player because you always did better than the people who were not so good.

I will finaly say that In Halo Reach, things are just sooo blaazaaay. There is no character to it. The maps suck, the weapons suck, and the forge pieces suck. You can't give your custom game maps character anymore, and because the multi player maps have lost character people have lost interest in Halo Reach. Plus, in Halo 3 you had to work at it, its so easy to forge now. I remember the good old days when you could creat death dumpsters, under the floor buttons, having to phase pieces in the map. For some reason that made it special.

So, I'm sorry Bungie, but your last game didn't go out with a "BANG!!" but rather a "Puff.."

Halo 3 for me means the beggining of a new brotherhood. A new beginning, the game that sat in front of my bed until I got a Xbox 360. I remember when my dad bought the game and then we had to wait a long time with it until I actually got the 360. So it also taught me patience. That very same patience that I apply to my everyday life and shapes who I am meant to be. The game that made have to focus on school and allowed me to get A's since I could not play it unless I got all A's. That game shaped me and I am happy to have enjoyed it so much.
