I just play for fun. MLG can kiss my ass.

No one is posting. I'm sad.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

In actuality, ODSTs, SPARTAN-IIIs and even regular marines should be able to dual-wield. The reason given that these others cannot dual-wield is that their HUD does no support two weapons, but the main reason is a gameplay mechanic.

And to answer the question. Elites can't dual wield in Reach's matchmaking cause that would make people cry about how they can and Spartans can't.

True, very true.

Canon wise? Mark V armor couldn't support two weapons on the hud at once.

Dude...this is schlock.

Miranda in Halo 2 had two SMGs, and she had no problem...but a super soldier can only use one pistol at a time?

Miranda...I am pretty sure she only had her UNSC navy uniform and...nothing else. No HUD, no ammo counter...but she could use two weapons.

All this schlock about "canon wise"...that's Bungie's excuse for being LAZY and forgetting to code in the duel wield function.

Why don't they just use the weapons blind? Who cares about the ammo counter. Do Spartans need ammo counters? Are they that stupid and pathetic that they need a computer to count bullets for them? Noble Six fired his two guns blind (Magnum and Assault Rifle) when he lost his helmet in the end...do helmets STOP you from using two weapons?

Yes, because they left it out on purpose means they forgot it =_=.

Anyway, the HUD doesn't literally make it impossible to duel wield, but it does track ammo (A main bit.), and brings up the crosshair for the weapon.

By "Cannot support to weapons at once." It literally means the second weapon has no crosshair or ammo counter.

Spartans aren't going to go "Lol, let's be badass and duel wield!" and hurt their effectiveness. Miranda did duel wield, but she wasn't really aiming(Like a Spartan duel wielding in Mark VI is) when she was firing those.

I analyzed the following clip with the assistance of the cast of the Broadway musical CATS.

We all agreed, that if Miranda wasn't aiming...then she did a pretty good job. In fact, I would say...duel wielding and shooting from the hip...she scored many direct hits. You are telling me...that Spartans, who are augmented super soldiers, who possibly have enhanced visual acuity and enhanced hand-eye coordination could not prove to be more effective then Miranda at Dual wielding?

What would be the point in duel wielding may I ask?

Even if a Spartan did duel wield, they would use it like the Spartans in Halo Wars did, firing one weapon till empty, and as it is being reloaded link the other weapon.

I can think of many instances where duel wielding would be helpful.

Primarily...two guns are better than one. It would help by killing Elites faster.

Why WOULDN'T this be helpful or useful? This only has pros to it. More guns always have a point, and its always helpful.

Duel wielding. You can no longer throw grenades. You are limited in effect range. You go through more ammo for exact same results.

Elites dodge grenades anyway...and hoe are you limited in effect range?

And sure...you go through twice the amount of ammo, but you also do twice the amount of damage.

You are limited to CQC, if the elites are outside that range they are more dangerous to you then you are to them.

There was a glitch in one of the ACS modules and Bungie couldn't fix it fast enough.

If you cannot even rapid fire a Magnum properly ,rapid firing 2 will make your shots hit your base ,even if it is behind you.

Press B/RB and you drop the gun for Meele. Problem solved.

But in reality...you can just smack someone with the second gun...

Sometimes...I am left with the notion that nobody on this forum thinks about what they type before posting.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Regarding Miranda dual wielding. It was practically useless, since she would need to drop the pistol to fire the shotgun again, seeing how it needs to be pumped.

We are talking about Halo 2, when she had 2 SMGs and she was shooting the Arbiter

i won't ever argue with bungie's decision to take out dual wielding from ODST, but i do think that at least Magnums and Plasma Pistols should have been dual wield-able in Halo Reach, even if you could only wield two of the same kind in order to prevent n00b combo's, dual M6G would have been so useful so many times in campaign, although i don't know how the how expanding reticle thing would have worked in conjunction with dual wielding.

Expanding reticle might have screwed it up.

could we all forget about Miss Miranda Halsey-Keyes in this thread please, she is the supreme exception to what we are discussing, lets just say practiced at the shooting range on days off and drop it.

Expanding reticle might have screwed it up.

only solution i could think of is have one side of the reticle represent each weapon or have to one center reticle for the aim point and have two seperate offset overlaping circle for the reticle expansion.

Well...I don't think they would have wanted dual sniper pistols being used.

There are balance issues to address in such cases.

But...you could always disable zooming when Dual wielding.

"than we are agreed, a tactical removal of scoping in while dual wielding will completely eradicate the local balancing problem!"
