When i first started playin halo i realized, one big nuke could blow that ring into oblivion. they have all these high tech weapons but they got rid of the nuke. just seems odd to me.

There are nukes in the book its just they didnt know what the purpose of halo was when the Autumn crashed so they did not destroy. Also they were being attacked right when they spotted halo so even if they did use a nuke it would destroy them too.

They diden't know they were all going to die at the time.

And they don't some marines, including sergent johnson get off Halo.

No, that's an easter egg, it has nothing to do with the story. They A. Use the same sprite for all black soldiers, so it's not always sergent johnson B. In the book, he is not infected by the flood because of his erradic nervous system, and escapes on a pelican.

Also, the Pillar of Autumn had absolutely nothing left except the MAC cannon, which gets blown up in the battle in space, so its Tactical nukes are all gone along with the Shiva nukes on the Longswords. Also, if they blew up Halo, where would they go? no slipspace drive, no weapons no engines. Anyway a nuke wouldnt have done it, it takes an explosion from a huge fusion reactor to blow it up.

Elmicker, what do you think a nuke is, it's a huge FUSION reaction.

Actually, all the nukes the humans use are tactical (as in, measured in kilotons). The fusion reactor's explosion would be measured in at LEAST megatons, perhaps gigatons.

nukes rule...hehe. You'd think though that we'd at least be smart enough to keep some strategic nukes on missles on or near Earth to take out orbiting Covenant ships like the ones in the Halo 2 announce trailer. It'd be funny to see a scene like in Independence Day except replace those aliens with a grunt or one of the other Covenant species. "Hmm...what is that thing? And what is that annoying beeping....BOOM!!!" That would be awesome.
