I'm in the first 3rd of it, and its a bit more complicated than the other halo books, but I still think its amazing. Anybody else read it? does anybody even go on these forums?

I'd like to read it, but it hasn't come in the mail yet.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I've read up to Chapter 20. I'm not impressed. In fact, I find it hard to read because it's very disinteresting. Nothing exciting happens. It seems like a let down, so far. I hope the story picks up.

I will eventually read it.

I appreciate you have an opinion and all that crap, but Cryptum is the best Halo novel yet, it blows Ghosts of Onyx and Contact Harvest out of the water.

of course we have you fool.

this is the damn Universe forum. everyone here jumps on every new book the second it comes out.

Hey, first visit, I usually keep my reading to myself.

I don't really care about the action though, as someone else said, or something close, because I was always immersed in the idea of the forerunners, and now, precursors. Also, when I say it in the "new" section of the library, I almost died.

Why does everyone love Cryptum so much? I know that it takes place during the Forerunners rule and all that, but why is it sooooooo amazing?

Because people that like the universe for something other than, "OMG OMG HALO BLOWING UP OMG GRUNTS AND INNIES DYING OMG SGT. JOHNSONS AUNT DIED AND HES DRUNK LAWL," enjoy more "history" than you might think.

It's a character-driven story with a fantastic plot and dozens of great revelations that turn everything you thought you knew on its head.

Plus it's written by one of the most experienced sci-fi writers of the past few decades, it was a nice change from the other Halo novels which have been all about action.

9.5/10

I only question the novel's length, it seems kinda forced that it was 343 pages long.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

Yeah. Way too short. It was okay, but I must say that I prefer the other books more. It felt like fanon, to tell the truth.

not everything is about the explosions and action.

There is two fight scenes in Cryptum. In both cases, Armageddon befalls a planet, exterminating all life and destroying the world (13 times if you count the Halo Rings, in which case Armageddon hits 12 times in one battle).

The rest of the story--the actual story--is about mystery, intrigue and character.

While the action scenes are always good to read and very well written, the primary focus is the story. That's why its so good; because it wasn't overdone with the action, which I kinda thought TFoR was.

I read it in one day. I actually finished it before noon, so half a day, whatever you want to call it.

I thought it was a bit hard to get in to at first, but then it captivated my mind :O

Overall, I thought it was pretty excellent. Tied in some key plot points I did not know about, but left some new questions to be answered.

Can't wait for the next one.
