Subject: Epicness of Carter's death

Cpt. Cutter, for those who don't get the referance.

His death was the most badass out of all of them as far as I'm concerned. It was epic when he crashed into the Scarab. Although I admit, second playthrough, I hated him for it. Really wanted to take on that Scarab.

Think before you post

If they spent more time developing the characters I would've felt more. I really loved Jorge's death because you got a sense of his character from the cutscenes and gameplay. Carter was 2D character at best.

"The Emperor Protects"
"Suffer Not To Let The Unclean Live"

I thought it could have been better use the guns more

I found it dumb. How hard would it have really been for two Spartans to take down a Scarab? Granted Carter's injuries may have guaranteed he would die soon anyway, but I still think it was dumb.

I didn't know that only 2 Spartans with no cover, vehicles, or heavy weapons could take down a Scarab that was about to fire at them.

if only the battle lasted longer then we could of had more character development time.

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

Not epic. Carter flies a pelican into a scarab, dumb ass move if you ask me. It didn't even kill it.

  • 02.07.2011 8:05 PM PDT

:P

Emile's death was far more epic.

  • 02.07.2011 8:21 PM PDT

I stood up and saluted as soon as he said ,"Carter out"

Signatures are for squares.

Emiles death was far more epic.

I don't see how being overly cocky and not watching your radar is "badass." Had any other spartan been in that situation they would've quickly killed the first elite, and swung around to give the second elite a belly full of shells. Then he likely would've killed the third elite.

He had a shotgun FFS, it was the only time that his weapon of choice would've been effective, and he got killed. (Yet he somehow managed to get that far using his shotgun as a sniper.)

Yeah I don't think joking openly about suicide bombers and "for allah" will help you get any farther from the FBI or the CIA...

I breathe BR, not kidding homie.

honeslty, it was kinda like a fial lol, tried to make it seem really dramatic, but obviously the guy coulda lived, really howd he even get shot? why wasnt his shield on, just a lot of things didnt add up

We are all connected;
To each other, biologically
To the earth, chemically
To the rest of the universe atomically

Unfortunately, given the shortness of the scene, not at all.

Carter and Emile's deaths were pretty epic but Noble 6 was hands down the best. Guy takes on waves of Elites, duel-wields his assualt-rifle and magnum, and what's more epic was the fact that they had an Arbiter standing by in case the Elites didn't finish him off.

  • 02.07.2011 11:33 PM PDT

JD

no emile's death was great because he took an elite with him still.
I mean c'mon the knife in the neck was badass even if he was stabbed in the back

  • 02.07.2011 11:56 PM PDT

JD

yes but had six pulled out some grenades just before they stabbed him it would have been pretty explosive

Oh boy, here we go again. I'm going to assume you think it was an Arbiter because he activated his sword in his left hand.

<(-_-)> Teh mokey is not amused

The kamakazi side was bad-ass but I didn't care that he died.

  • 02.08.2011 1:52 AM PDT

Anyone think all the deaths were a bit contrived? All of them could have been avoided somehow.

Compared to Joshua and Grace, it was heroic and honorable.

I thought it was pretty cool but he could have offloaded a lot of missiles into the scarabs legs and ordered them to run.

  • 02.08.2011 4:05 AM PDT

In concept? As Epic as it comes. The idea of someone you are emotionally tied to doing a kamakazie run at a giant walker to save what remains of his team while Emile announces "Hit 'em hard, Boss" is Epic.

The execution of this concept in game sucked. We had no emotional ties to the team, and the kamakazie run itself was boring and obvious.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

I hated Carter's death. He is a selfish, selfish piece of crap AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM. He took from me what could have been the best moment in Reach and crushed that moment into millions of tiny pieces. I wanted to fight that Scarab. I needed to fight that Scarab. That single fight could have been the greatest thing to happen to Halo: Reach.

I hope he burns in Hell.

I do agree that his character needed some development, but it is hard to develop that many characters in a FPS campaign.

Still, his death was the one that affected me the most in the game, beside Noble 6's of course.
