Subject: Epicness of Carter's death

I think it would be a lot more badass if he jumped out of the Pelican just before impact and SURVIVED!! why die like that?

Well it wasn't very epic, but it was brave! I think the best death withing Noble team was Jorge's. (It reminded me of Sam 034's death)

they are spartans they have no emotions harsh but true

I thought it was epic, but it feels to me as if the squad itself had some sort of emotional detatchment. I mean Emile acts as if Carter was some random marine who died by shooting himself accidently - I'm saying he didn't care. How did they survive that long without falling apart, without the deaths.

  • 02.08.2011 12:18 PM PDT

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

They cared, they could just never let it show - especially when there was a mission to accomplish. Duty first.

I know its really damn offensive, but the second time I saw it I couldn't help but think. "for the emperor!" then the 3rd time, "Praise Allah!"

Thats my opinion.

I thought I was the only one haha

You should also get therapy.

All three of you should go get therapy; Hell, I'll even go get tharapy too.

Anyone think all the deaths were a bit contrived? All of them could have been avoided somehow.

I agree with you on the fact that most of them could have been avoided.

Jorge's Death: Well I can't really see a way out of that, unless for some strange sense they decided to use a TIMED bomb instead of using one that needed a button to be pushed. That would get you out. Set a charge to detonate at a certain time, then jump with the other fool.

Kat's Death: Single shot with a needler rifle to the head? WTF is that about? I mean, this is a Spartan who can take massive beatings from other Spartans and have her shields recharge and be like nothing ever happen? I mean, here gear has got to be stronger then that.

Then we got Jun's death....uh, he did die right??? They never really tell us what happened to him, we are just left to think that he is dead.

Then Carter slams himself into a scarab....ever hear of an eject button, or does that not exist in Halo land.

Emile's death could have been prevented, if maybe keys left some Marines behind, and Emile wasn't such a prick on the cannon.

Then your death could have also been prevented by just being allowed to run outside of the battle field.

But all of that would have made TOO much sense.

It was cool, but I think Jorge's was the most epic.
He killed himself to destroy the Covenant super carrier. He thought he was saving the planet. I was sad.

"He gave his life thinking he'd saved the whole the planet...wish we were all so lucky."

Jorge is the one I felt the most for, Kat, I had a massive WTF!?!?! moment, but I was really tired while playing that so it was one of those times where emotion didn't really register with me, now I still feel a big WTF when I see her death, but I also feel a little sad 'cause it's so shocking and tugging on the emotions.

I think his is about fourth on the list of noble team casualties. Noble 6's is number one of course, with Jorge's second, Emile's third, Carter at the number four spot, and Kat's last. Kat's death was just a little bit cheesy. Really, a random sniper?

You were totally and absolutely correct in every way, I don't know why we were arguing, you're so amazing I should never have doubted you.

The Jackal that shot Kat was from Outskirts.

It's the only explanation. If her shields were down, you should be able to see the flicking electricity.

Forget his death, I just want to know how the hell the Pelican was still flying, despite being attacked by banshees for, what, 20 minutes?

I just thought of something. What if Jorge didn't die but was transported to an unknown location through slipspace? Just sayin'.

I did lol at this, but it was actually a Field Marshall. Bungie said so in one of their commentaries or something. Don't have the source so don't bother asking haha.

Not at all. Carter was undeveloped, and your unoriginal squad leader with your generic science fiction voice actor. He seemed to lack a personality altogether. His death was just put in there to get rid of him.

The only two deaths that were good in this game were Kat's and Six's. Kat's is hated for not being like a copy-pasted Hollywood death, and Six wasn't technically a character. He didn't have a personality.

Actually, I hate Kat's death death because it is illogical. No way could a needle rifle round penetrate her skull. If you want to know why, look up Spartan augmentation(II and III).

He was transported to an unknown location along with the middle part of the ship. He was probably ripped apart though since he was right next to an unshielded slipspace drive when it went off. He is also not floating alone in space in the middle of the universe with no way to travel and there are probably some Covenant Elites that survived and are angry.

tl;dr Jorge died when it went off or shortly thereafter.

Spartans can deactivate their shields anytime they want. Kat probably wasn't being very conscious ... making this statement void

I thought it was pretty cool, and he had a nice line to go out on. I didn't really care that much though. The characters didn't have a lot of development for me to care much about their deaths...Jorge the most out of them, and that's only because of me knowing about the relationship of the Spartan II's and Dr. Halsey.

Yeah, character development should have been better.

Sangheili Major: "Brute ships. Staggered line! Shipmaster, they outnumber us, three-to-one!"

Rtas 'Vadum: "Then it is an even fight. All Cruisers, fire at will! Burn their mongrel hides!"

Meh. Could have been better. I mean; it was sad, his character just didn't have much...development, like all of Reach's characters. His last words made it a little more emotional, though, which is good.

  • 02.24.2011 4:04 PM PDT

His death was cool but he was an underdeveloped character. He died just when he was getting interesting.
