Here's what would make the best "pro" game:

No jump because that makes other people miss shots.
Giant square room with no walls or corners or camping places.
No AA's because they're all overpowered, ESPECIALLY hologram.
No grenades.
No power weapons.
Five hit kill melee. Your fists are now incredibly useless.
DMR only with no bloom.

Whoa, hold on.
You deserve to miss shots if you can't hit a jumping person. Armor abilities overpowered? Maybe armor lock, but hologram? Once again, if you get killed or destracted by a hologram I think you deserve it, it's not that hard to tell the difference between a hologram and a player. A giant square room would be boring, and it would be easy to kill almost instantly with team shooting. No gernades? come on, what if your enemy just went around a corner to camp? No power weapons? Maybe they need to cut down a litle but not that much. No snipers =(... and no mass noob killing, or infection. If you added no use to punching this would become a strictly long range game, no cover, no suprises, no assasinations, no evasion methods, no high k/d spreads (mostly). And throw in only a DMR, i think this becomes the world's most boring game. It would be a you shoot first or your dead game. The only variable would be player skill.

By the way, to make a good map corners are inevitable. I mean come on, all we woulf have is a multilayered mosh pit. Or do we still get cover of any kind, like hills or somethin?

Lord Byron...

I see the value of a gametype that is an open box with nothing but brute trigger skills and aiming and dancing with the joy stick. It reminds me of a vacant RTS map, with no boundaries for players to hide in.

But to be this extreme about players using cover to survive...I think that's overboard.

What you seem to be wanting to do is to apply ancient tactics of battle similar to that of men walking out into the midst of a battefield wearing red coats while the enemy picks em off one by one from the shadows and the trees. I find that to be something regressive, slightly ludicrous...
However, fun...because Halo is often something regressive, slightly ludicrous, and hilarious as well. So... yes, suggest a gametype of this kind of stupidity... and it has a chance of being a big hit. Just like grifball... which felt more like football therefore making it quite epic and like a brilliant idea...because there was no ranged weapons involved.

Just please... corners, cover, and the tactics involved in staying alive are not something worth breaking your disk for. I mean hell... the whole point of evolving games was to make people feel the game more; have it seem more realistic... and no one goes out there to war without thinking about taking cover... I'm sure that's not how any army operates these days... at least I hope.

btw... corners have remedies... case and point : Plasma grenade. Get close, toss one... maybe go out and along with it, then make sure that area is covered and exploited for kills on the unfortunate bloke trying to save his own life there. Same with AL... if the two are combined... grab your friends... a volley of dmr/pistol/assault rifle blasts from three sources is kinda hard to survive from... especially if the attackers are THINKING on their feet. I often find this a lot on matchmaking. It makes you a better person for solving the problems you come across rather than just complaining about them...

Though... again, I would like to say. Your idea for an all dmr war on an empty possibly vast area does sound catchy... though I think it'd be best with a small map so it can stay intense and prolong my attention span.

tl dr - get on my level

Yes but if you want to get around a corner you have to stay near it and people can see the corner before you run behind. You can use AL whenever you want and it comes out of nowhere, blindsiding people.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

I am amazed at how many people took this thread seriously, truly.

Bungie needs to get rid of shields, too. Shields are for noobs and BK's. Why should I have to shoot a guy multiple times before I can finally kill him?

While they're at it, get rid of lateral movement, too. It's such crap how somebody can move left and right to try to avoid your shots. They should only be able to go forward because left and right are way too over-powering.

Lateral movement sucks and it's over-powering just like armor lock, corners and shields. GET RID OF IT!

/sarcasm

Why do you have to shoot a guy multiple times? So it takes skill to kill him. If we just went around killing people with one shot this would be a noob's favorite game.
Lateal movement, really? Have you ever seen a noob employ lateral movement effectively? And if people of your skill set use lateral movement then learn to use it yourself.
And i just have to say, i don't get your whole no corners thing. Have you thought of the practical, in game effects that would result? And the corners themselves are not overpowering, it's the way people use them. Do you realize how utterly stupid that sounds?

"Corners are overpowering"... Really?

I call BS. I get sniped or DMRed through corners all the time. Grenades and other explosions also like to phase through corners as well. Your post is instantly invalid.

Yeah, I agree with OP, just take out walls entirely. Walls make hiding and camping possible.

DMR only with no bloom.

... ^.^

Then what would the community complain about? :D

This is probably the silliest hate topic ive ever come across. A game with out corners would probably the worst game ever. No cover, all you needed to do was shoot someone. Boring. Really its not corners to blame but in fact your strategy to deal with people who hide. (It is everyone, not just a select few.) I you dont like it, go play COD. Go get shot hundred times without even a chance to fight back. Every MP has corners, if you want to hate such silly things you might as well hate the game's binary code...

  • 03.22.2011 11:42 PM PDT

OP is quite possibly the douchiest post I've yet read on this site... but it is kind of funny.
I lol'd at all the people who took this thread seriously and tried to argue that corners should be kept in the game (I lol'd again just writing that sentence).

  • 03.23.2011 12:35 AM PDT

Why is this thread back? And it still seems like my internet sarcasm skills aren't up to snuff.

  • 03.23.2011 1:20 AM PDT

IS MY HAND MOVING TOWARDS MY FACE?

I THINK SO.....

do you guys not get it? OP is poking fun at AL haters. wow.oh my go-

IS MY HEAD MOVING CLOSER TO MY DESK?

I'M ALMOST CERTAIN...

  • 03.23.2011 1:24 AM PDT

OMG corners are so OP! Someone HAS to tell Sage. Reach needs a title update now! 343 needs to make a map pack that has 3 maps of just flat land!

The player still has to maneuver themselves away from combat and to the corner, still with the possibility of being killed, in order to 'delay' their death or survive altogether.

In other words, it takes effort.

Armor Lock takes no effort to use.

This thread is a stupid attempt at humor and I can't believe I'm arguing about corners being a crutch.

Uh, sure... I'm on Reach a lot. Gamertag is same as my forum username. Though I and my friends are very nerdy, just so you're aware. Can't say I didn't warn you.

Lord Byron...

I'm very flattered, but I'm really not that good at writing. Also, my post is a joke, I'm not even gonna keep up pretenses at this point. Month and a half later, seriously?

Yes but if you want to get around a corner you have to stay near it and people can see the corner before you run behind. You can use AL whenever you want and it comes out of nowhere, blindsiding people.

Since I'm not interested in continuing the joke, here's a serious response: isn't accounting and reacting a skill in and of itself? Lots of people like to say you can't deal with random. Well, not every time no. But a skilled/experienced player will come out on top far more often than not, right? And that's what sets them apart. I like using poker as an analogy.

I do not appreciate your sarcastic attempt to poke fun of at AL "haters/complainers"

Let me make one post that will poke a hole straight through your argument:

1) You don't spawn next to a corner
2) You can't be next to a corner at any point during the game
3) Grenades much? You can still get killed if you go to the other side of the corner, and people can follow you. It doesn't give you "semi-invulnerability" it doesn't give you invulnerability period.

I lol'd.

MLG Octagon has no corners...I saw a 1v1 on that and it looked boring as hell. One guy kept spawn-sniping the other guy four times in a row...
