Yea I was playing doubles with a guy who said Halo 2 ranking system was so epic. He told me he had 2 45's and 1 48. Anyways he also told me there was basically no legit 50's. I wanna know what was considered good in halo 2 rank wise.

Halo 2 for Life!

before the first update it was hard to get above 11 or 12 lol. Than they made it a bit harder to cheat but they couldn't eliminate it so after that anything between 30-35 was good anything above had a whole lot of cheating going on even with the crack down and people eventually left ranked and went to unranked game types which made the cheating problem even worse... So it worked good the ranking system around level 20 and people would de-rank to get to that level. It was rare to get cheaters at level 20 but it was common as a 30 or above.

It was fun to rank up though as it took practice and helped you get better but it stopped being helpful after 30 I found, and than the rests made if fun again until I hit 30 again lol.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Here's how you would get up:
1. Boost
2. Boost.
3. Boost.
4. Play a lot until you never see the sun (like everyone in this forum)

H2 didn't take skill, contrary to popular belief.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Here's how Jacob is a hypocrite:
1. He trolls these boards 24/7.
2. He posts FAR more than your average Halo 2 Fanboy.
3. He even goes out his way to connect to XBC and XLink Kai.
4. He owns and plays the PC Port.

Jacob didn't have any skill, contrary to popular belief.

Har Har, old stuff is old.

1. Trolling is fun. Tell that to shock120 too.
2. I don't post as much as some fanboys here (tottaly...owait)
3. I stopped playing XBC/Kai due to the fact no one is on, no one is hosting mods (the only good thing about h2), and everyone lags.
4. I don't play H2PC anymore. I play CE now, and h3, and Reach, and many other games. Go ahead, use old arguements, but you still fail.

Oh, and my h2 k/d would have been higher if it was still up, but I mostly played H2PC at the time, while my brother (crazy teeth man) shared my tag on a Xbox 1 due to the fact my 360 was being fixed.

As for why I don't like h2 now, well it just sucks. It took me a while to realize, but it sucks.

Oh, and kds mean nothing. I am much better at Halo PC then you, which unlike h2, takes at least some skill. Keep being in denial, but h2 really is n00bified.

Halo 2 ranking was pretty simple, you win you gain EXP, you lose, you lose EXP. When you gained a certain amount of experience you'd rank up. The higher you'd rank up, the more EXP it would take to reach the next level. As another poster said, originally if you were level 10 you were a god at Halo. Once the updates came in, the high 20s were considered amazing, then 30s, then anywhere around the high 30s it came suspicious of cheating in someway (ie modding, standbying, or boosting).

However, the real joy (for me at least) came from the symbols each rank had. They were just awesome. Especially when you would reach levels 44-50. They were all symbols, such as: moons, suns, and eventually level 50 was a Halo. Pretty fun times. Here are the levels:

I got to 32 on Team Slayer and hit a wall of de-rankers, boosters and modders. I think I saw a handful of legit 44-50's in my time playing.

Edit: OP, the ranking system in H2 was far from perfect even without the tons of cheating that took place. I'd take Trueskill over it anyday.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

I prefer the Halo 2 ranking system, then the trueskill system that Halo 3 had. In halo 2 if you won your matches, you would rank up and you at least had an indication of where your rank was "how close you were to deranking or to the next rank".

In Halo 3 the true skill ranking could keep you ranked locked, and it would take an insane amount of wins just to go up one rank but one loss could make you derank 2-3 levels.

While Halo 2's ranking system was not perfect, its at least better then both Halo 3 and Halo Reach ranking system.

It being "n00bified" is just an excuse you make for being not-that-great at the game. People resort to this excuse and it is just sad.

Did you think Halo 2 was "n00bified" when you first picked up the game? No.

But now years later, you see these videos on Youtube and make it your excuse. You were still terrible at the game before you even started noticing Hitboxes and Aim Assist.

Even if it is "n00bified" You still knew the good players from the bad players. But now all of a sudden "You're better at Halo CE PC" which hardly had a competitive community in the first place.

You get a stiff over other people's posts and choose to hop on the anti-Halo 2 bandwagon all of a sudden. Hey, that's all cool man.

I don't have anything against you nor do I dislike you. I just hate how you turned into a poster who put on a mask. You're trying to act like somebody you are not. But I guess this is what Youtube and the Halo PC Forum does to people.

I forgot the specefics about how it works, and i can't find my Halo 2 piggiback guide.

But it was something like this:
Ranks where individual for each gamemodes, and some where unranked. If you won a game you would get a point/exp. Lets say maybe you need to win 10 games in order to gain a level, if you then lost a game in between you had to start from scratch.

There was a little more too it than that, but as said a can't remember it.

Bungie used to have a detailed description, but i can't fint that either.

Do good stats at a luck based casual game get you laid? No. Will writing "My KD is 50.0" on your resume get you a good job? Probably only a Kroger job or similar (since they hire anyone).

Meanwhile, my kd is better then it is on the h2x stats on that h2v stats site, but I stopped playing h2v due to the fact it sucks too. They don't use excuses, they just know good games from bad games. Also, MLG = Joke.

Even if it is "n00bified" You still knew the good players from the bad players. But now all of a sudden "You're better at Halo CE PC" which hardly had a competitive community in the first place.

I did know who would pretend to be good. Anyone with a lot of Xes in their gamertag, or MLG in their tag is pretending to be good, except the game is luck based. One 1v1 you are pwning, another you get pwnd. It's just luck and randomness.

I don't have anything against you nor do I dislike you. I just hate how you turned into a poster who put on a mask. You're trying to act like somebody you are not. But I guess this is what Youtube and the Halo PC Forum does to people.

Yep, both make me smarter then the h2 forum (which is pretty dumb by Bnet standards).

Yes somehow Halo CE takes more than skill than Halo 2.

HCE Pistol = 3 shot kill and faster firing than BR
H2 BR = 4 shot kill and slower firing than the HCE pistol.

HCE shotgun has a huge range, pretty skillful huh? /sarcasm

And if you noticed, Xbox and PC games have different skills.

Most PC games use dedicated servers so they don't need the things that xbox uses like slight aim assist and hitscan.

Most Xbox games use Peer to peer matchmaking which creates extreme host advantage, especialy on Halo 3 (I hate when my bullets don't register as hits because of the host).

Everything that Halo 2 on Xbox added, made the game more fair.

Explain Bad Company 2 and Team Fortress 2 for the Xbox 360, with no n00by hitscan or aimbots. And also explain PS3 steam, which will have equal PS3/PC/Mac Crossplatform Online.
