Subject: Isn't anyone else completely... shattered by this remake?

I could ramble on about this all day if I wanted to, but I'll try and keep it short. Skip to the end of the post if you want to, but like I say everywhere...

I absolutely disagree with the majority on this one. The remake will destroy the very reason why it's being remade in the first place, and CE will not adapt to the new generation well. Unless they change a -blam!-load of things, in which case MS will have an angry mob on their doorstep anyway.

What I fear the most is the original game being completely and utterly forgotten in the shadow of what could be a monstrosity that doesn't live up to the legend. This game has to be absolutely perfect or I'll be pointing a finger at someone.

One thing that's already got me pissed is that it's only being made because Microsoft is turning into Activison junior.

That basicially sums up my thoughts. But adding onto that, the only reason this remake is coming is because Microsoft saw the chance to make a buck and they took it, and now they'll get that buck a little more than a year after Reach's release. A greedy an unnecessary buck. Reach is Bungie's exit point for Halo, and mind you, it's a bloody brilliant exit point. I could have absolutely not asked more out of Bungie. I sure hope there are more people on my train of thought, because Reach does not deserve the controversy it gets, and deserves a long and happy life.

And like I said in my quote: This remake could completely overshadow the original's existence even if it's a smoking pile of crap. CE doesn't need a remake to have justice done, and my attempts to convince people that rushing out right now and buying CE for $4 in all its glory and splendour would be one of the best things they ever did, fail... It boils my blood. EVERYONE deserves to experience CE in all its glory and splendour, not the spawn of some deal with the devil.

Anyone else have a similar attitude to myself?

Please note that I am very tired and rage enduced.

:)

Something smells fishy...

I wouldn't say that I'm "shattered" and upset. I'm not entirely enraged by the possible remake. I'm more neutral feeling.

If I were to decide what the remake would entail I for one would not change the graphics. I would just integrate online multiplayer and online Cooperative play. But I'm sure it will be more than just integrating online capabilities. The graphics will probably change as well.

I thoroughly enjoy Halo: Combat Evolved as it is. But a remake will not shatter my world all that much.

Yes I am British, I like tea, I like crumpets, and I am going to kick your ass!

I think that its a win-win, either 343 make a brilliant remake, or we get to laugh at them.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I'm a little torn. I'm going to buy it no doubt, but if it ruines the CE experience (For example, adding Brutes and Drones), I'm returning it and pretending it never happened.

i like that thought a whole lot. either way we still have the original Halo, or we get a "better" Halo in which we can play XBL. that'd be the only good bonus for me i think.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

Since the very hour the idea of a CE remake being "confirmed" emerged, I started sharpening my pitch forks.

It would be the greatest insult imaginable for them to call this a Combat Evolved remake, but practically make a new game. If this comes out, I'm cemented in my stance that 343 is MS's Infinity Ward, and I'll be damned if I support an Activision clone when I don't support the genuine thing as is.

Well, its not a terrible thing for a remake to happen. I just believe its a waste of time. I know im not the first person to say this but if its being rebuilt then its using a different engine so it wont be the same anyway. I dont see the "official remake" being any different than a custom on Reach. Its as simple as downloading one of the map remakes and making a Combat Evolved gametype with CE weapons and no abilities.

Sure you can play a new HD campaign and get some achievements i guess.. but it wont be at all the same Combat Evolved we all knew and loved.

With that being said, my stance on the remake- I CANT WAIT FOR IT! (assuming its actually being remade)

What can i say, Halo is my Star Wars.

I agree OP. Sure, it was perfect 10 years ago, but times have changed. To make the game financially viable, they're going to have to change quite a lot about it. From gameplay, to basic level design. It's all going to be changed - Especially since it's going to be using a new engine.

If the rumours are true and this remake is real, I will buy it. However, the moment I notice something that has changed from the original I will just forget it ever happened.

I don't even think I'll buy it,Imay get a demo to see or play it on a friend's Box. All in all I don't think a remake should happen, the original is what got me hooked, I believe it to be the best Halo game ever made and I say if it isn't a perfect or better remake we riot at Microsoft's doors.

i will buy if for sure since i love me some halo, but it will not replace the original at all to me, it will be a completly new game.
there is no way a remake will conect with me like the original did back in the day when all of my friends and i were like 14 and playing it for the first time

  • 02.09.2011 6:22 AM PDT

In my opinion it can't be any worse than Reach is...

I'm hoping for the best, but I won't decide whether I'll buy it or not until I see some actual footage.

I don't share the same attitude but same fears but I'm up for giving them a chance and have high hopes and expectations. Here's how look at it it's gonna be made either way let's be positive (despite my fears) and hope for the best.
