This is just a brainstorm from a fella called cowgosemoo thread. Credit gose to him. Link: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=53244750

Well when reading the link I was reminded of a time when I was playing Riddick and I thought what if you could fight with fists as well as weapons in Halo like in Riddick? Well cowgosemoo suggested a good way in which it could be incorporated into Halo. I wanted to go deeper into this element as it would add a whole new light and way to play Halo. Like cowgosemoo says you could access fist mode by holding Y down. You could then pull RT for a haymaker (a slower put more powerful punch), LT for a jab (a quick but less powerful punch) and pull both to block. It would differ between Elites and Spartans. As Elites are stronger their haymaker would be a 1 hit kill and their jabs would be 2 to 3 hits to kill, depending on where you hit. The Spartans would have a 2 to 3 hits to kill hayemakers and a 5 hits to kill jabs, again depending where you hit (bare in mind these figures are for a Spartan against an Elite. For Spartan vs. Spartan it would be the same as the Elite figures and for Elite vs. Elite their haymaker would be 1 to 2 haymakers and 3 to 4 jabs depending where you hit). This would also sevre as a balancing system in multiplayer for the Elites bigger hit-boxes (being 8'6") and slower firing weapons.

What are your views on this?

Actually had this idea a few years ago already. Back then we had this thread dedicated to Halo 3 Ideas (biggest one there was, 550+ pages) and posted similar idea like this.
Also had a very basic concept picture made for it.

For multiplayer it wouldn't be so interesting, but for campaign it would be really cool. Like, what if Tip of the Spear had you start without weapons (after all, your Hog crashed and the weapons could have been scattered all over the palce)...you would have to engage Covies in fistfights.
Not over the top amazing stuff, just some basic punches left and right you know the drill.

As for Multiplayer: you could have a literal Fistfight for Firefight, or a playlist that is like boxing :P

So yea, as a limited thing I would say it might be cool

Old GTs; RebelRobot, Flamedude

I'd like them to bring back the melee combo system that was going to be in Halo 2. That would be great.

it's a cool idea, but Bungie needs to rework the armor lock ability. Out of the five or six games I've played just today, just about every opportunity I've had for a close-quarters kill, I've been denied because of idiots spamming armor lock... even when I have the jump on them. Also, the ability to "cancel" the energy sword's lunge attack and the shotgun's extreme inconsistency (I've had instances today alone in which point-blank shots have failed to kill an enemy and and longer-range shots have made it through shield and health both). Fist combat would probably be rendered pointless against anything but someone else with their dukes up, and if armor lock is brought into play, it'd be nothing but guesswork.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

If you were to block, the damage usually taken could either be halved or quartered. What would be more fair?

No new games, catching up with the world, and filling it with the name of SpazDragon, the dragon with a spas-12.

That was a Morrowind Mod with Spartan Armor over a Halo 2 screenshot.

I can tell...

I'd say quarter but then it could depend on species and shielding.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

You mean like this?

Yeah that would be cool. Like the Elite would be the best choice if you like hand to hand fighting.
