Even though you'll probably dismiss it.

Also, open field battle, in the terms of my example, would mean the two fleets are engaging each other, with no defensive structures present for either side. A simple ship to ship fight.

The Battle of Reach had defensive structures (super mac stations.) thus, the Covenant was assaulting a stronghold.

Anyway, have fun whereever you go off to. I'll continue revising and adding to my intellectual points while you sit in a corner and answer by saying the opposing side is ignorant plebeians.

Really, I must ask what the point of saying that was? I mean, we both have our viewpoints, both of us are intelligent, so why reduce yourself to petty insults?

I don't get where people come off calling Reach a "farmer colony", you see more military installations than you see in any other game, there is a -blam!-ing HUMONGOGINORMOUS city with buildings on the same scale as Coruscant in Star Wars, and you see a much larger military show of force than any of the other games combined.

Yep, Reach is definitely a random farmer colony.
/sarcasm.
Yes, a city which covers an entire planet (Coruscant) is similar to a city which looks to be the size of New York City (New Alexandria). EXTREME EXAGGERATIONS...errr excuse me. The presence of a single city hardly answers the question of whether or not a planet is agrarian. What made it seem, to me, that this was a farming (backwater) colony was the lack of a forceful response to any of the Covenant encampments and the unwillingness of the UNSC to send resources to defend their bases (CASTLE, SWORD, etc). The book had the military personal on Reach at ~153 million. Initially there was only a single super carrier so they couldn't have been off on the other side of the planet fighting the Covenant. Where where they? Why weren't more resources (any resources) invested into getting rid of the Covenant?

I was not comparing the overall size of the cities, I was talking about the size of the buildings, which are pretty damn similar in size. I'm saying a planet that is mainly agriculture would not have a monster city the size of New Alexandria, they'd probably have cities sure, but nothing anywhere near that size with massive buildings that stick out like sore thumbs.

Lack of force? I saw plenty of force, did you not play Tip of the Spear or something? That was the UNSC throwing everything they've got at the Covenant planetside.

English isn't my first language. Look, I don't usually report people to forum moderators - but I am willing to report you for being utterly disrespectful in the time you have been on this thread.

First you report me, call me a troll and idiot, and now you make fun of my English without even considering the possible reasons.

But because I'm a nice guy, I wont report. But I wont waste my time with you as-well.

Your lousy English representation mislead me into something entirely different, and yet you don't seem to be willing to accept that fact.

I reported you, called you a troll and idiot and made fun of your English because you deserved it. If you read the Bungie forums' rules, by right, you should never single out any member for what-so-ever reasons in your OP.. By defaming Privet Caboose, a well-respected member among the Bungie forums for this canon-related threads (did you even see his more-than-100-pages-popular thread on the Reach forums before Reach got released? Like seriously? It even got Urk's attention.), you were already asking for insults to be exchanged.

If you were a nice guy, you wouldn't have done that.

But because I'm a nice guy, I wont report. But I won't waste my time with you as-well

You said something similar in your previous post (Go look for it, it ain't my words in yer mouth), about not wanting to waste more time with me, yet you still continue to do so.

So, the super mac doesn't count as a defensive structure or position? It's like saying "Army 2 attacks army 1." "Army 1 has towers set up, but clearly those aren't defensive structures meaning Army 2 is not attacking a fortified position."

The point is, the Covenant are attacking a defensive line. It isn't like the battle where the Keyes loop was performed before the bulk of both fleets arrived. In that one you had both forces open fire, then close in. In Reach, you had them firing at each other, but the UNSC wasn't moving from their defensive line.

Edit: You seem to be taking my example too literally. The point is, two armies fighting with no objective other then "Kill the enemy." will typically end much faster then "Army 2 is assaulting army 1, and must overcome the defensive line army 1 has."

You said something similar in your previous post (Go look for it, it ain't my words in yer mouth), about not wanting to waste more time with me, yet you still continue to do so.

A real man keeps his word, boy. (Unless if I mistook you for a female, I sincerely apologise.)

Perhaps you shouldn't be mislead then. Perhaps you should consider the possibilities in the future; instead of being disrespectful. And perhaps you should realise that using Caboose as an example for saying Bungie broke canon (which is true) does not defame him in anyway given I did not attack him as a person or dish out any insults.

Also, If I was acting inappropriately in anyway I believe I would be blacklisted by now.

i did not defame or damage the reputation of Caboose- And even caboose didn't speak out against me using him as an example; so if caboose has a problem with me defaming (which I did not do), HE will tell me, not you. It appears you are licking his ass...

P.S when I said I would not waste my time with you that was concerning the actual Halo/Bungie argument (you were just acting like a troll), However this is an entirely different matter.

EDIT:

I am really tired of people like Private caboose saying Bungie broke canon.

Why hello to you too.

I dont think caboose has a problem with me using him as an example at all...

Again, I didn't attack him as a person or use any insults what-so-ever. All I did was list what he said - there's nothing in the forum rules against that It's the same as quoting him...

I guess you must not have looked past the level at the background and skipped the cut-scene, they show a map at the beginning detailing the troop movements, Six is only playing a small part in the battle, he can't see absolutely everything the UNSC is moving out, and therefore neither can the player as Six is their avatar and they are limited to what Six sees or what directly goes on around Six. Honestly, use common sense, we're not going to see everything simply because the game can't do that, and think about it, if they're being attacked all throughout the Vierry Territory, then there will be more than one front to the battle, we only get to see Six's role in it and no more.

Just to make sure I'm hearing you right. What you're saying is that because there is no evidence of somethings presence that it means it's not there until it's presence is proven?

If that is what you're saying then that reasoning is incredibly stupid. That defies common sense and reasoning and is simply illogical. It's like saying that Lord Hood never fought at all, there's no evidence for it, yet common sense tells us that he has to have fought in combat before, otherwise he would not have reached his rank.
