So that it fits the new canon.

They need to remake Halo: Reach so it fits in with existing canon.

  • 02.09.2011 10:15 AM PDT

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

No, they need to remove Reach from having ever existed. We'll build our own catapult and fire every copy of that horrid excuse for a Halo game into the sun.

I am a practicing traditional Catholic.

Good idea OP. A new Reach book would be nice. New canon and all.

Except that Halo: Reach is a lot better and makes a lot more sense than TFoR's canon. It also fits in better with the canon established by pretty much everything else except for TFoR.

"New canon" my right bollock. Why is it that you people will say that TFOR and Reach fit in perfectly, then you disproved and say the novels are optional canon, now you say that they need to be rewritten.

No, they do not.

I'd much rather preserve 9 years of consistent canon, rather than have it all redone in favour of a game that tore it all apart. Or, to put it simply:

Old canon < new canon

Sources that support TFOR as canon:
- Halo CE
- Halo: First Strike
- Halo: The Flood
- Halo: Ghosts of Onyx
- Halo: Evolutions
- Halo Encyclopedia
- Halo Story Bible

Sources that support Reach as canon:
- Halo Reach

Sacrificing the many for the few is retarded. -_-

The begining of Halo 2 also supports TFoR as canon. Why couldn't bungie make Halo Reach accurate?

Because Reach was mandated to Bungie by Microsoft, it's quite clear that Bungie decided to make their "swan song" a giant middle finger to Microsoft.

They should change the Name Halo: Reach to "Halo: -blam!- you guys, we're done with these games!"

At what point do any of those say "oh the battle was a month long," or "yeah, the Autumn was on Reach when we know Halcyon-class cruisers aren't capable of entering atmosphere," or Halsey was all like "screw Operation: RED FLAG, I'm going under SWORD Base for about a week instead".

Congratiolations ,you have just proven how ignorant you are.Tell me how does it supports Reach anyway?

Halo Reach and the journal contradict eachother:

Somehow the sII's were still planning red flag while the the covenant were already on Reach.
Hell there are more of 'em

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

The ESRB would never allow that name. Com'on, be serious.

I almost forgot but this states the Battle of Reach lasted a month.

Battle actually only truly started after LNOS/Tip of the spear. Even then it was small compared to the incoming fleet on the 30th.

We know Halcyon class cruisers are not rated for atmosphere, meaning they can't go into atmosphere and hold themselves up (such as a frigate could.) For it to enter atmosphere and dock doesn't seem that major an idea.

Between sword base and the package, Halsey was actually quite busy. She went and briefed the Spartans on their mission, and did other things she did in the book as well. She returned to sword base to gather the Cortana fragment, and on leaving, went to Castle base. Makes more sense then "Halsey was stuck under Castle base the entire time."

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

This is a bad idea. No sane person would diminish the qualities of diamonds so as to make them more congruent with coal.

  • 02.09.2011 12:52 PM PDT

no they need to rewrite halo reach storyline with a massive update

  • 02.09.2011 12:53 PM PDT

Yes, I'm a girl, stop asking.

Republic Commando fans look here.

"This is the way the world ends, not with a bang or whimper, but with zombies breaking down the back door."

Absolutely not, the Fall of Reach was there first, and was actually released before any Halo game. I love it, and if they were to rewrite it I would be pissed off, especially if they hired a different author. Leave it as it is, and hopefully they'll stop pulling a George Lucas and tearing apart the canon.

how does reach make more sense than TFoR if it IS the base of the halo canon!!! i am just completely baffled that you say this!! it disrupts major parts of onyx and first strike as well! why make such major changes to 3 AMAZING books witch make the biggest difference in the canon than mostly MINOR changes in reach! even if reach did fit the canon they could completely remove it and still it would barely affect anything. reach didnt add hardly anything to the canon it just gave us new experiences and ruined the rest of the canon for the most part.

ok good for you. you know have one meaningless thing to support reachs timeline compared to the 5 books that support the original. that is just to say the 5 books that OBVIOUSLY support when actually EVERYTHING else supports it in some way
