Good idea OP. A new Reach book would be nice. New canon and all.

Why is it that you people will say that TFOR and Reach fit in perfectly, then you disproved and say the novels are optional canon, now you say that they need to be rewritten.

No, they do not.

I'd much rather preserve 9 years of consistent canon, rather than have it all redone in favour of a game that tore it all apart. Or, to put it simply:

Old canon < new canon

Erm...I didn't ever say they fit in perfectly. I said the game was better. Btw you're sounding like a troll. Re-read the forum rules bro.

Yes, I'm a troll for disagreeing with you. -_-

No, for immature swearing and lacklustre research behind your designation of what I even said. Also for viciously trying to beat everyone into submission for the crime of liking a game that a lot of us are here to enjoy, instead of simply applying logical, well mannered arguments based upon the solid standing-ground of graciousness. You're well within your rights to disagree with me, but do so politely, backed up with proper definition of what my viewpoint even is.

Immature swearing? You may want to take a second look at the world, everyone swears, it's a way to vent - not showing immaturity at all.

Lackluster research? I have 9 years of Halo canon behind my arguments, your so called "logical, well mannered arguments based on the solid ground of graciousness" hinges on one thing: "Game canon > book canon," an argument I am absolutely sick of hearing because people are defending Bungie's blatant disregard and alienation for the majority of the fanbase that has a greater appreciation for litarary mediums they themselves endorsed.

Kids of twelve and under swear like parrots because they hear it from the media. More grown up people (i.e. mature) stick to well thought out discussion and vocalisation of their views and subsequently achieve a greater appreciation from their readers who are able to access well surmised statements without suffering the taint of limited vocabulary and impolite words.

By saying lacklustre research I was reffering to your statement that I had said the books fitted in with the game. I did not. You did not check up what I had said. On this thread I also said the book would be appreciated, not that the book was needed. Also it is quite understandable that people will use the argument "Game canon beats book canon" because Joe Staten (who is himself a Halo author) made it quite clear that the games were the absolute verdict.

Ajw, Perhaps you have never noticed we might be sick of you basically saying "You don't agree with me, you are wrong!"

Also, as a reader of the halo books, and a fan of them, I'm not seeing this horrendous insult by Bungie toward me. Maybe they emailed you a letter with it?

Oh, and yes, swearing in a discussion is typically immature.

Read Dr. Halsey's diary. It fixed the "broken" parts.

No, it did not.

You guys have no self-respect; you're willing to give up on your beliefs the instant Bungie hints for you to do so.

Bam, lovely example of "I'm right, you are wrong."

The Journal did clear up certain issues. All of them? Maybe not. But to say it did nothing is stupid.

And where did that come from?

How am I "giving up my beliefs because Bungie said so?"

You mean, I'm not mindless hating on Reach, therefore I'm a drone who worships Bungie? Damn, thank you for informing me of that.

Where, exactly, did I say it did nothing? I did nothing but to dispute his claim.

Are you sure you're not over-exeggerating here?

TFoR is well over 9 years old; established canon confirmed by Bungie. Do I really have to elaborate further upon this?

They need to remake Halo: Reach so it fits in with existing canon.

Except that Halo: Reach is a lot better and makes a lot more sense than TFoR's canon. It also fits in better with the canon established by pretty much everything else except for TFoR.

Get out!
Reach conflicted not only with The Fall of Reach, but also screwed up Ghosts of Onyx!
All the information that Reach gave about the Spartan 3's conflicted with the book, including some of the spartan's ages for example.

There is no conflict at all with GoO, the only possible conflict lies in TFoR, and even that claim is stretching it. And the majority of the "big" "issues" were fixed by Halsey's Journal, as far as I know, I've only had hear-say from very good sources to go on, or by common sense. Most of the so-called "problems" arise from people hyper-analyzing the story and finding small things that they blow way out of proportion.

What i think now that they replaced the old fall of reach with the new version.

The Halo Reach(new one) is in the HSB now,i mean even 343 industries supports that game.

So yes Halo Reach conflicts with the fall of reach, but we all know that.We are beating a dead horse by complaining about the chanches.Whatever we say is irrelevant is the HSB supports Reach now.

That's why i'll stop complain about the canon breaches .

I hope they explain everything that happened in the new battle like red team.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

The Fall of Reach was pretty terrible in my opinion, so a rewrite would make me happy.

the halo series is/was bungie's own universe, they created it and established the cannon. that pretty much gives them the right to retcon the cannon as and when they see fit to do so. also the games that have been created by bungie themselvs should be considerd the highest tier of cannon. preceding the books and comics etc. produced by third parties sactioned as they are by bungie. lowest tier would have to be ledgends. god that was bad

Of course they can, but only fools will follow such huge changes blindly.

The games always take priority over books, so the books need to be rewritten, not the games.

The books were just rewritten less than six months ago, mind you. This was 343's biggest failure, as well as Bungies. Probably just a lack of communication, but for those who bought the rewrites it would be a complete and total ripoff if MORE rewrites came out.
Whatever the case maybe, the game is forever burned into the canon and there's nothing that can be done to change that. I suggest people accept things for what they are. Trust me, you'll sleep better at night. If I was the the person who made the call to create revised editions I would've....well, there's no way in stinking hell that I'd even bother with em.

Reach was already being made and planned while ODST was released. Thats why ODST has these tidbits like that mural with the dates on it.

Has anyone actually checked the dates, and correlated them with the book and games? I'm going to start investigating the timeline.
And where can this be seen again?

Elaborate upon "this".
These so called dates in the second quote.

Cutscenes, if I am not mistaken.
