When I try to start a Split-Screen or System Link match on Lockout it says, "Failed to load map." However, all of the other maps load up just fine. Also, when someone else hosts a match on Lockout over System Link I have no trouble loading the map.

As for the Map Packs, I downloaded all of them from Xbox LIVE while they were still being offered for free before they shut down the servers for the original Xbox, but none of the maps from them show up on my Map List. I was in fact able to physically locate all of them on my Hard Drive, and when someone else hosts a match over System Link on one of the maps from them there are no loading problems.

Does anyone know how to go about fixing these issues?

Idk what your problem is or how to fix it but for the dlc maps i would try buying the map pack disc and re-install them.

Of course buying the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack disc would solve part of my DLC problem, but that leaves me without the last Map Pack. Although I could just keep it on my Hard Drive so I can still play on them over System Link. I was just hoping that there was some other way to solve this problem without having to go about it that way. The Map Packs must have gotten corrupted somehow, that's the only reason I can think of as to why I'm experiencing this issue. I also tried clearing the System Cache to see if that would work to no avail. I might go to get my disc resurfaced to see if that solves the failure to load map problem.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Try this and put the $5 toward buying a used 360 game at gamestop.

Oh, and I figured out now that I can in fact host a match on Lockout, but only over System Link when the host leaves or gives me Party Leader. It stops working once I leave that particular Game Lobby though.

Is your xbox modded, or are any of your files modded?

No, my Xbox 360 is not modded and none of my files are modded either.

Just asking. The lockout map slot is bugged.

So what exactly does that mean, how is it caused and, most importantly, what can be done, if anything, to fix it?

It's caused by the .map format used by Bungie. They had to add extra slots via title updates in memory for the DLC maps, and that borked Lockout's map slot. The slot is buggy, and some h2x trainers and files can interfere with the slot. PM Shock120 for more info, he knows more about the engine then I do.

My Youtube - Halo 2 Online Co-op
BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I'd say the patches are messed up on your Xbox.
You may need to buy the Map pack disc, so that it can generate patches for your Xbox 360.

I'll try out the DLC tutorial first, but if the Map Packs still don't work properly then I'll go ahead and get myself a copy of the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack.
