I'll be honest and say I didn't read the book, I read the article on Halopedian because I couldn't wait for the book and that's how I found out.

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

It doesn't confirm what it is in the book, but yes, it is more than likely precursor.

At first I thought it was a Gravemind, but it ended up being a Precursor survivor.

We meet again, young one. I am the last of those who gave you breath and shape and form, millions of years ago.
I am the last of those your kind rose up against and ruthlessly destroyed. I am the last Precursor. And our answer is at hand.

I wonder what else could confirm it?

Sorry, sorry.
I read something about that too, I'm sure I saw some thread a while back about it "not being certin it's a precursor."

Still though, after reading the books, do you really think the forerunners could have defeated the Precursors?

Stop looking at them as high tech alien races and i would say yes.

This is no different than rebels/slaves whatever you want to call it going against a higher power and winning. it is all in our human history.

Precursors creat humans and forerunners for a purpose (i think they made the forerunners to build stuff, hence building being at the top) forerunners don't want to be "slaves" or evolve outside precursor shaping and rebelling using precursor tech against them. I am now going to go on a limb and say the humans didn't help the forerunners or the defended the precursors. but thats just a guess

"Shall we let the Flood consume our holy city? Turn High Charity into another of their wretched hives? No enemy has ever withstood our might. The Flood, too, shall fail."

-Prophet of Truth.

Wrong wrong wrong. The reason the Forerunners defeated the Precursors so easily is because Precursors lived in STARS. The Forerunners blew up these stars, essentially almost wiping themselves out on accident. One Precursor managed to survive, and was contained on Charum Hakkor. He escaped when MB tested one of the Halo rings on the planet.

The reason Forerunners were so shocked is because even Precursor structures were obliterated. They all thought that nothing could destroy Precursor structures.

Cryptum, however I am not at home so I can't give you the exact page number :( I think it was the last chapter, or the chapter about the Forerunner-Precursor war.
