Ok, so here's how this goes:
I got Halo2 for vista this past christmas because it has been several years since playing this game (on original xbox) and I missed it very much, so I decided I would get it for PC and re-live the game...
Install went well (took about an hour) and when I was done, I wanted to play (REEEEALLY BAD). Open the game and wait. 2 min later I get a message saying GFWL failed to initialize and that some other LIVE program may be running. (this is where it get frustrating)
I uninstalled and reinstalled halo2 - same problem.
I uninstalled halo2, then uninstalled EVERY program that had to do with windows live. Then I restarted my pc and installed halo2 - SAME PROBLEM.
I have tried some of the "fixes" and they did no use. I also tried the "KBupdate" from Microsoft, but that didnt even install.
Do you have to install the GFWL client and then Halo2? Or where can we get a copy of GFWL that was the version when the game was released?
I also do not understand why I cannot just play this game offline. Yes, online multiplayer is nice, but I JUST WANTED TO PLAY THE CAMPAIGN!!! :( Can anyone help?
System:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
2GB RAM @ 2.19GHz
64MB dedicated video, expandable to 797MB (Intel64 Mobility)
Intel Celeron Processor (Pentium III Xeon @ 2.20GHz)
One last note: when uninstalling, I used RevoUninstaller, to get every last file and registry key that I could, but it was still no use...
