Joe

After you beat the last level on halo 3 and u wait till the end of the credits you see master chief floating towards a planet.Anyways I was watching Halo Legends the other day it was Origins 2 and it said that they left this planet for you and when i saw the way the light on the planet were compared to the game and it hit me it was a Forerunner planet. So do you think there will be a new halo with master chief and the forerunner planet? Tell me what u think

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

It is either Precursor or Forerunner. I saw some great detail of it while doing Annual, and I will tell you that seeing it in-game provides a much better look at it.

'life is a stare down with death himself'

so far its been speculated to be several things:
sanghelios (highley unlikley)
GoO micro dyson sphere (to small to be that planet)
a ananomous 'shield' world (most likley, possible didact, or mendicent bias location post ark.)

There are also rumors pointing to the possibility that it's Onyx.

Not possible, Onyx is no more, and even if it was, he wouldn't find Halsey and the Spartans, they were sent to a shield world inside a Dyson sphere far away through the slip space tunnel, possibly that, He finds the shield world, manages to open it, finds them, party time.

"Dude, what are you doing right now?"
"Uhh... Heh, my mom."
"Dude... What?"

...So, you JUST found out that the planet was Forerunner?

Abit late, lad.

With how Ghosts of Onyx ended up, and you should have read it by now, it's most likely Onyx. Or some completely other Forerunner world... that may lead to an aged colony of survivors from... the colony ship Spirit of Fire??!??

Reach. The similarities between the corona of the sun and the visual effects in Halo Reach are too much of a coincendence... but hey it could also be the Grunt Homeworld. Ive always wanted to play Gruntpocalype in the campaign!

the reason that i haven't ranked up anymore in H3 is simple.
if im general and lose a single game, i will get about 20 messages asking me how much i paid for the 50 on ebay.
if im brigadier, i would get messages saying, cant get a 50, noob?

Reach. The similarities between the corona of the sun and the visual effects in Halo Reach are too much of a coincendence... but hey it could also be the Grunt Homeworld. Ive always wanted to play Gruntpocalype in the campaign!
if it was reach, then how come humanity didn't find the ark since the planet masterchief is flying towards is near the ark.

It would take the chief thousands of years to reach Reach, it's not Reach.

  • 02.10.2011 11:12 PM PDT

To any imbecile who implies its Onyx....did you see a trillion Sentinals patrolling a micro dyson sphere the size of a city block surrounded by the debris of a destroyed mantle from the planet covering?

No. You did not.

Do you think it would take "years" to get a distress signal from Reach? Do you think they'd have trouble finding him in orbit of our second most important planet, near Earth, sometime within 6 years? Because he floats there at least that long.

It's not Onyx, Reach, or anything. It's a Forerunner colony/planet, and you can see MC's ship drifting towards it in Origins 1. Youtube link with timestamp upon request.

Proud Member of KIKC

If you have read the books, you should have an undeniable guess that the planet is not onyx, is not reach, is not any planet we have read details about, however in the last few parts of the Ghosts of Onyx, The spartan Team, mix of Spartan 3's and Chiefs team, ended up going into a portal that led to and unknown place, all that we know is the sun was shining and they were standing in some sort of feild. I believe this portal to have taken them to a shield world. Knowing the way chiefs fate turns, he has arrived at this shield world and will soon begin another epic adventure facing new enemies, allied with his team once more, and finnally finding the secret of the Forunner race.

The planet Master Chief is flying to could be on the other side of the galaxy from the Ark!

From the point at wich the cutscene ends, to the part where we see him floating towards the planet, any number of years could have past.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

They have different colored suns.

This has never been thought of or posted before.

No. He did not.

The Micro Dyson Sphere was an inverted world, with the planet "surface" being on the inside of the "ball." It is also a few meters wide outside, and 300 million kilometers wide inside.

to the part where we see him floating towards the planet, any number of years could have past.

Incorrect.

The Halo 3 cutscene takes place immediately. As of Halo Legends "Origins 1", before Cortana's semi-rampant retelling, he is still floating there. In 2556.

Living under a bridge all of your life has it's consequences.

I lol'd at how late you are.
OT: It might be a Forerunner planet, might be a Precouser planet, hell, might even be a Teddy bear land planet! And as to your question about another Halo with MC and the planet, 343 is tasked with making another Halo and they need a starting point, so why not use MC drifting towards that planet as a starting point and go from there. It would be the easiest thing to do and would probably make slot of people very happy.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

You don't know the contortions I had to go through to follow you here, Reclaimer. I know what you're here for. What position do I take? Will I follow one betrayal with another?

You're going to say I'm making a habit of turning on my masters.

But the one that destroyed me long ago, in the upper atmosphere of a world far distant from here, was an implement far cruder than I. My weakness was capacity - unintentional though it was! - to choose the Flood. A mistake my makers would not soon forgive.

But I want something far different from you, Reclaimer.

Atonement.

And so here at the end of my life, I do once again betray a former master. The path ahead is fraught with peril. But I will do all I can to keep it stable - keep you safe. I'm not so foolish to think this will absolve me of my sins. One life hardly balances billions.

But I would have my masters know that I have changed.

And you shall be my example.
~ Mendicant Bias in the final Terminal talking to John.

The general consensus is that he's sending John to the Forerunners in order to prove he has atoned for betraying them 100,000 years ago in the Forerunner-Flood war (where he defected to the Gravemind).

Bobcast is paid in MILF blind dates.

It would be cool if it turned out to be Bornstellar's home planet or the Forerunner Capital.

  • 02.11.2011 7:30 PM PDT

It was obviously a forerunner (or precursor) planet. It wasn't that hard to figure out the first time I saw it. I can't believe there's still people that try to argue that its Reach and/or MC traveled through time. (Not directed at you, OP. I just wanted to complain.)

There is still not enough evidence, even from Halo Cryptum, to surmise where Medicant Bias sent the aft half of Forward Unto Dawn.
We still do not know what happens after the Halo's are fired across the galaxy in the Forerunner Era.
We will most likely know the truth once this trilogy of books is completed.
