"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

So often I find a thread that completely breaks the rules. I search and search for any mods who have posted recently in the hope that they are still on. But so often I find myself messaging a mod that isn't on until the next day. I fail to find a mod, and end up messaging Yoozel or Shishka when Recon is looking over some other forum. But I don't know that Recon is there. I haven't the slightest idea as to where he is. So I have two questions to this problem:

1) Is there any way to contact mods quickly? Most of those I hear about won't work for me.

2) Would it be in any way possible to put up a list of "Active Moderators" at any given time? A list that people could look at, grab the link, PM any one of the mods, and let the mod use his powers accordingly.

Pax vobiscum.

That might work, except that once the list was empty, the forums would be spammed to hell. Jus let the thread be, it'll be locked eventually.

Well moap usually works for me, oh and TGP is always on. You can always PM him, he will respond. Shishka always responds too, or for me atleast and I haven't seen Imp for a while now. Google talk! or MSN if you really want to reach them quickly.

I think there should be a list. If there aren't always mods on then mabye there should be more mods appointed.

Nah, there really are enough mods. Having more appointed would be useless considering we have enough already. But hey, who am I to say anything.

I can never think of a time when no mods were on, it is simply that we don't know who is, unless they end up actually locking a thread.

So many of those programs, like MOAP and Google Talk don't work for me. Don't ask me why, they simply don't.

Well... #MOAP isn't a program... it's actually a chat channel which can easily be accessed via browser.

Naturally. However, that seems the best way, unless I can find a mod. Thank you Yoozel.

Unfortunately spammers and jerks would run as rampant as Tycho when the suggested list is empty.

I would have guessed that the only time mods were not on would be the same time that most members aren't on anyways.

I know that not all mods are on at the same time, nor that a mod is on at all times, but I would guess that there is at least one mod on at almost any given time.

I think the most reliable way to find mods quickly would be MSN. That's why I have my MSN and email address easily shown.

Sometimes when I wake up, I come on here to find someone PMing me about a thread 3 hours ago. And it's been taken care of. I'm not always on.

There are mods all over the world- I'm pretty sure one of the seventeenish or so is always going to be on.

Well, you can also get programs like Ice Chat and then access MOAP that way.

Another thing you should keep in mind, if you're going to report a thread to a Moderator, make sure to send it to only one Moderator. It's a big hassle signing in and seeing you have ten messages all leading to locked/deleted posts.

I know, but sometimes you just have to get the thread locked quick. In that case I send the link to multiple mods to try to get the thread locked quicker. I usually just tell mods in MOAP to get the job done. It's a lot quicker then PMing mods here and then waiting for a while.

I really do wish we had the old Bungie.net feature of the “online” status in profiles.

Precisely. Anything really that would allow members to find moderators quickly. Something like that could work better than an "Active Mods" list.

And I do get a bit odd when I send those messages. I think you might know Yoozel. For some odd reason I apologize in the case that I end up wasting the time the mod I send the message to. Don't ask me why, I just do.

Hahaha, you do that a lot Mabian ;) I found that out yesterday. I think it would be a good idea to have the "online" status apear only for mods. They are the ones who really need it. It'll make the "forum cops" happy, and who knows, it might even make the forums a better place.

No need to put Forum Cops in quotes. I think that is the name we have adopted. Though I don't know everyone who is on that list.

However, it would probably help those who wish to report rule breakings to the mods, and that way members wouldn't send messages to several mods about the same thread.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

I agree with having an "online now" icon for the mods under their avatars. I can sympathize with Mabian because there have been several times where I have seen a thread, and it is dynamite factory which is only worked by smokers. I of course report it to the gmail account, and hope that it gets locked soon, before people are given the oppertunity to earn themselves blacklistings. But, I'll go back a couple hours later, and low and behold the thread is still open, and people are demonstrating their lack of being civilized b.net members. It would be nice to have a way to know who's on and who's not, but just not some blank list for all to see. Just those who are looking for a good reason. Just my opinion.

yeah, having a online status appear on mods would be nice, hopefully the idea becomes a reality. Mabian, Forum Cops are anyone who help out in the forums. You are considered a Forum Cop.

A few things that would help would be that if Bungie.net members would just leave it alone if it hasn’t been locked in a few hours, simple as that… don’t reply to it and don’t egg anyone on.

As for the online status, a counter point to it is that people would wait until a Moderator goes offline to commit whatever devious little crime they think they can get away with. Like the old Xbox.com forums, it’d be nice if the Moderators could view a total list of people online so that it’d be easier to pick out spammer names and contact users who are causing a ruckus. But hey, that’s just my crazy ideas.
