Halo 2 Vista has enough players to find a match and have fun in. Not enough where you can ALWAYS find a SWAT match, though. You'll be able to find a Snipers match though because h2v players love Snipers.
Halo PC and Custom Edition is filled with players/servers that you can join. In fact, I'm setting up a Dedicated Server in March.
Both games are compatible with the controller. Halo 2 Vista has the buttons already mapped out as soon as you plug it in, but, Halo PC doesn't. You'll have to map out the buttons. Also, Halo PC doesn't have auto-aim. It might be a bit harder for you to use a controller than it is on the Xbox. It still works about the same, but, it takes a bit more skill. You're honestly better off learning how to use keyboard/mouse. kb/m is the best hardware for First-Person Shooting anyways. It's already been proven in tests done by Microsoft in the betas for Cross-Platform gaming.
people always tell me this but im always horrible with mouse and keyboard, pretty much no matter what.I know, that's how it was for me years ago. I started out on Halo PC using a controller. After a while, though, I started trying to use the kb/m. I was doing horrible for about 2 months. I would go off and on from kb/m to controller. Eventually I started getting better with the kb/m. I was getting a tremendously higher k/d spread each time I used the kb/m. That's when I sold my controller and kept with the kb/m.
