Subject: Noble Teams Armor Varients and Colors make no sense.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

This is something that has always made me sad and really shows Bungie has no idea how to design a gritty game.

Noble Team's armor makes no sense. If they are supposed to be an ONI Team who goes on clandestine operations behind enemy lines. Why do they look like a double rainbow?

Carter's Armor may work if he is UNDERWATER.

Kat's Teal stands out even when running through a building in the process of being glassed....oh.

Jun's is okay...except for the huge blue and white stripes he has on his shoulders.

Jorge is freaking orange...which is okay, its not like he is trying to be stealthy anyway. That brings up a good point, why would you have a huge guy with an LMG on a stealth team?

Emile is the only person who has a color that actually makes sense: Grey. But then he has this huge fishbowl of a helmet. Why would a CQC specialist wear a helmet with a huge vulnerable visor. Heck, they have a helmet variant DEDICATED to CQC!

This is one of the many reasons I never really got the whole "dark" theme Bungie was trying to set. Do they really expect me to take this whole "glassing" thing seriously when a lady wearing bright green armor with a skinny robo arm is telling me it?

What a joke.

I'm not saying that every member of Noble Team should have worn the same armor, but it's called CAMOFLAGE.

Just call me Najar.

I completely agree. I wish bungie had stayed with the standard Mark V, and the standard green.

Just call me Najar.

The funny thing is that, i made a thread a long time before the game was realized, saying that the spartans should wear Mark V, and the standard green. And only like two people supported me. :(

Noble's original colours seem to be blue and white, judging from the fact that Carter and Kat are the only original members. Carter's armour fits the bill, and Kat's used to in early Reach screenshots, although Bungie decided to change her from Carter's blue to more of a teal shade, I guess to help differentiate her from Carter. Jun's stripe on his arm is kind of a nod to this, except it's important to remember that the rest of the squad are all relatively recent replacements. Their colours could be from their old units or something.

I really don't understand where the "rainbow" squad generalization comes from when two of the Spartans are green, two are blue, and one is black. Potentially two using black if you count in the press version of Noble Six.

I don't see how their colors are impractical until they start wearing hot pink suits.

Given my gameplay style, NOBLE wasn't a stealth team anyway...

And Jorge doesn't lug around an LMG, he lugs around a Heavy Machine Gun.

I think it'd be a little awesome-r this way; but the armour personalisation of Noble Team basically makes up for the lack of character building in-game: we come to identify them as Blue: Carter, Teal: Kat, Big Guy: Jorge- instead of Green 1, Green 2, and Green 3.

Jorge is not orange, he's a dull tan color with a few red accents on it. And it blends in really well, or it doesn't stand out in any case. And Noble is not necessarily a stealth team. And you'll need heavy support if you're behind enemy lines, and that's where Jorge's turret comes in.

Carter, he's not bright blue, he doesn't stand out, I often overlook him because the blue is a very dull shade and is not something that stands out like a sore thumb. And also, he's got a lot of dark gray accents to his armor, it's not like he's all bright blue.

Oh yeah, like a couple stripes are going to give Jun away, I can't even see them, so that should tell ya something.

Emile wears the EVA helmet because it provides a wide field of vision, it's a helmet suited to CQB/CQC because it doesn't hinder the wearer's view.

Kat is the only one that really stands out, and she's not green, it's a white/blue color, and it's not even distracting, it's a mild color that doesn't distract from the action, it's not like it's neon or something.

When was it ever stated Noble Team was a behind enemy lines stealth squad?

Also, just a random thought on my end about the "Used standard Mark V perms and green color." That may have ended up with the unwanted reaction.

"Oh, another Spartan died." instead of "Emile died... -blam!-"

Exactly, if they give everyone the same armor you don't feel anything for them, or not as much, it's harder to give everyone distinct characters if they all look exactly the same, and even if Noble was all in green with their unique armor permutations, it'd still be harder to tell them apart.

They are coloured like that to make it easier for players to distinguish them. Obviously from a realistic standpoint it doesn't make sense to have a special team like Noble to be brightly coloured but it's a video game and Bungie's target audience for this game wasn't exactly for the people who care about realism.

That being said they could have at least made them wear dark colours.

Brown, grey and blue are the most effective "multi-terrain" camoflague colours you can wear, when regarding solid colours. Green, specifically olive/drab is second best.

Carter/Ket = Blue
Jorge = Brown
Emile = Grey
Jun = Green
Six is undefined, it you care about camo you most likely have a sensible colour, I go with the brown/grey option myself.

I do agree somewhat though, that the shades used are too bright. Then again, official screenshots of the game always look darker/most realistic colours, so maybe it's the way my tv is set. D:

They would've felt more like a unit if they had the same color armor. They just feel like a bunch of random nobodies, not a team of elite super soldiers.

Maybe your TV is brighter, or your video options for Reach is higher. Cause, on my TV, none of Noble team have bright colored armor.

don't see why you'd need to camoflage spartans. they're walking tanks after all. and if they really need some camo, they can always use their active camo plug-ins

Kat and Carter were going to be the last remnants of an original team. An original team that wore blue.

Nothing in large amounts in nature is bright blue, bright teal, or bright orange.

People are missing the point.

It doesn't makes SENSE to have them be different colors! John can distinguish EVERY one of his 32 man squad when they are all EXACTLY the same.

Considering Noble Team has been together for a decade I'm pretty sure they can tell who is who.

The colors they wear just make them more noticeable. You would think a team that used to use suits that made them invisible and didn't have shields would care about stealth a little more.

1) For gameplay reasons, the Spartan would be too hard to differentiate.

2) It's hard to hide when you are in a metal suit of armor with a reflective visor.

3) Camouflage is more to tell the different armies apart rather than actually hide the troops. Hardly a problem vs the Covenant.

4) Spartans are supposed to strike fear and intimidate their opponents, why would you want them to be hard to see and eliminate this psychological weapon?

This. Bungie wanted the player to tell Noble Team apart.

What in the hell are you talking about a stealth team?
On reach they were messing up militia there was no covenant on reach at the time.
Also the militia knew when the spartans were coming from radios that we stolen.
So there was no need for camo.
