Subject: Halo Reach Gore

I would just like to say, I see no reason for this game to be rated M for Mature if it had very little M rated material to show for it. It has just blood and violence when you have rated T games like Uncharted 2 that have the same things. So shouldn't that be rated M too if it has blood and violence but also has language and suggestive themes?
I know halo is rated M for mild amounts of gore a la the Flood from halo 1-3 and halo 2 for language. Halo odst and Reach I question.
It would be nice if Halo Reach had gore. I know some of you guys think I'm talking senseless gore like gears of war. But I say that gore can emphasize the hopeless struggle of humanity against an alien onslaught that glassed Reach. You can really see the inhumanity the aliens express when they rip a spartan in half, blow up a marine with a plasma nade, show viscious burns from plasma weapons, or decap and slice in half with an energy sword . I think the gore would emphasize a real feeling of fighting for something worth saving thus making the game more imersive. Gore may also give you a bigger feeling of triumph when you kill an Elite General that has been forcing you to restart multiple times or is wiping out your allies. Gore would also lead to more 3 dimensional characters seen in films that combat feelings of ptsd (post traumatic Stress Disorder) that spartans are known to suffer from in the halo lore. I think it would also lend to the feeling of a real warzone experience that killzone 2 offered me with its atmosphere.
The gore would also be consistent with the halo lore in the expanded universe. From what little I've read of the expanded halo universe I know that the weapons in the fiction are very devastating and leave some devastating or even mortal injuries. The results they yield in the lore are nothing like in the game.
Multiplayer I'm a little iffy about though. It would be more entertaining to blow someone up, or get a gory assasination on them than teabagging a dudes body. If another studio remade reach and added gore in the multiplayer it should also be realistic as in an Anti Materiel rifle should destroy your head if you land that headshot. Seeing that the visor is like glass and the rifle ignores shielding and armor when shot in the head why not? But on the other side I would say no since the technical requirements to implement it would be costly and the amounts of lag that might occur since Reach levels are 5x the size of cod maps. And gore would just cause visual hiccups.

because of the ESRB.

Realistic Plasma Burning/Melting is very hard and expensive to make.

Sure it is expensive but when you consider that it is bungie's last halo game shouldn't there be more production value invested in it. I mean I know if I was a Video game designer putting the axe on a trilogy I would make it probably the most steller experience that gaming world has to offer.

You have 10 species with multiple models each. You also have a half-dozen different Plasma Weapons which each would behave differently on the multiple types of surfaces in the game. The time and money is better off elsewhere.

BLAM!

I'll buy in.

I liked in COD:WaW how you could blow enemies arms, heads, legs off. It added to the realism and kinda gave the game a more serious tone. It showed you more of the kinds of dismemberment that happens quite often in war.

AK-47's don't tear off limbs. It's gore level actually took away from realism.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I wonder what it would be like...

it definetly constituded to the theme and atmosphere of the game effectivley. it helped bring out the darker under tone but i dont think it would have suited reach maybe the next halo game if there is one.

true indeed.
About WAW STG 44's don't tear limbs off and neither do pistols like that revolver. The gore from WAW is so unrealistic since tanks don't totally blow you up, they only take off 1 limb.

hello i am nobel six lololololololol

"The enemy came. He was beaten. I am tired. Goodnight."

"I think Reach is a pretty cool guy. eh drives froklifts and doesn't afraid of anything."

For one thing, gore could potentially hurt Halo's marketability. The tame PG-13 violence helps a big part of the fanbase to take its parents into buying Halo games.

Also, the kind of gore Bungie wanted to include in, say, Halo 2, would have been in extremely poor taste given some current events. The Great Journey level was to have a few Brutes decapitating Marines, but it was deleted because of certain events in the Middle East.

Spartans never die... they just revert to last checkpoint.

Slicin Jackal heads off, claiming Grunt hearts.
Bloody meat fountains, gore is off the charts.
Frag out, blood spout, walls and floors are stained
Mowed down, Crunching Sound, Blood and Chunks Rain

Ignorant. They didn't have AK-47s in CoD 5.
