on a side note for all you returning thread helpers, my account was banned from the waypoint forums for having an innapropriate username. go figure. point is, is that we are not going to get very far with this idea on Bungie.net. they already have given the DLC up to 343, and they have no power over it. we must now contact 343. if you have an account on the waypoint forums, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD OF THIS THREAD'S EXHISTANCE. post it over there. thanks.
To all forum members, this is looking really good so far, many people
are voting yes! Despite this, we need your replies to keep
this thread alive Please leave comments as well as voting. Thanks
A shout out to all community members
If anyone has any knowledge about how to contact 343 Industries,
please either post the link or PM me. I'm looking for preferably an
email address or some sort of email support page like
this.
Finally, please save this thread as it is vital to the survival of
it.
I would really like Bungie or 343 Industries to notice this, for this
is a good idea, according to the voters as well as moi.
Step 1: Flaming Topic
Step 2: COMRADES, WE WILL NOW TAKE OVER THE TOP FORUM TOPICS AND KICK THE RECENTLY LOCKED THREAD OUT OF THE 10TH SPOT! KEEP SAVING, AND ONWARDS! (war-cry from massive following army of voters.)
This thread is a slightly long read, TL;DR at the bottom.
Note to moderators: I'm sorry for bumping but I am doing it for the
votes of the Halo community, without any bumping, this thread would
not of had so many votes, it also seems that the majority of players
are agreeing with my proposal for this new map. If the community
didn't like this idea I would of given up a while ago but the
popularity of my idea is driving me to keep this thread alive. Please
do not lock or slow down this threads progress, so long as it stays
within the forum rules.

Part 1) Postmortem; it's a long read throughout the whole BWU but just
scroll down to the first picture you see, this image should force you
to come back to this thread.
Part 2) Idea/reasons in support - You don't have to read all of these
but, they may convince you otherwise if you don't like the idea
initially.
That is all I request you to read, I will star (*) the points
in which reading becomes more optional.
The rest is more directed towards Bungie and 343 Industries.
Thanks and enjoy the read!
I come to you all on a very late time to be asking for Bungie and 343
Industries to include such things into the game, but I'll ask that all
those who are interested in DLC and Invasion may want to read this.
Everyone else is welcome to read also because this is a very good
practical idea the Bungie may have forgotten.
It was almost a year ago that I read the BWU
Postmortem
If you Didn't read through the entire thing, I'll sum it up for you.
Halo 3 design leads ect talked about their original concept of what
their early intentions were for the map we know and love, Sandtrap
prior to Halo 3s release. In the BWU, they displayed an image of a map
which was set up into sections; an outside perimeter, and the inner
part of the map which we currently know as Sandtrap.
The idea was to build the "Ultimate Warthog map" designed for a
single-purpose, defence-attack gametype directed only for the map
itself. Unfortunately, due to multiple reasons, it was scaled down to
what we now call Sandtrap.
I'm now going to explain to you the main reasons why I can
assure both the fans, Bungie and 343 Industries that putting this map
into a DLC pack for Reach will be an excellent, popular and absolutely
necessary idea.
1) In the link I provided you (If you didn't see it,
here it
is), from the designs and layout of the map, this original concept of
the map was clearly designed for the gametype Invasion. The goal was
to have the attacking team push through the beachhead and make their
way into the pit and then infiltrate the enemy base. But,
unfortunately, they mentioned in the BWU that they had to abandon the
idea due to the gametype not being included in Halo 3. Well, I'm here
to tell you that Invasion is in Reach, and fairly safe to say
that the idea was spawned from Bungies early intentions way back in
the making of Halo 3.
2) This would be a perfect opportunity to create another
Invasion based map like Boneyard and add it into a DLC pack to further
stimulate the gametypes success.
3) Bungie had already done quite a bit of work in designing the map
already, so, unless they threw out the old level designs, they could
probably make it in less time than the other maps in the DLC pack,
this also allows for more testing time and less chance of bugs going
live with the DLC.
4) They talked about the map being very vehicle focussed (which Reach
currently lacks). Reach's Invasion to me seems very balanced out and
would be perfect for this kind of map. Other things added into the
game such as Armour Abilities would work perfectly, possibly make the
gameplay even better than originally designed! Armour Lock for example, although you may hate it for close quarters death-defying noobs, will actually serve it's true purpose here. any less-skilled or unaware vehicle drivers will fall prey to this unstoppable ability. but then again, you dont have to splatter them, do you? i think i see balance where there currently is not.
The point is, this is a flawless idea; not some stupid fanboys idea
and wish-list, but, something that Bungie has designed themselves!
This would be a perfect fit for DLC, providing yet another Invasion
map to play on, as well as promoting the kind of gameplay Bungie has
so freely expressed support over.
My question is: Should the original concept of Sandtrap be put into Halo: Reach?
************************************************************* ***
Okay, this part of the thread is the idea part, all of the
common/reasonable suggestions for the map I will put here.
1) I have seen Choppers
be request multiple times. It would be great to put them in the map
since the map is so closely designed for older vehicles than new. I am
still to page 7 getting more requests for choppers; this man says it
best:
Now, this is my position on choppers. I think many people would just
take it as a taunt if they didn't put it in, because in my opinion,
the multiple choppers were the best part of the map. Choppers can
destroy banshees, but not easily, they can be killed by a single foot
soldier, but can also slaughter easily if the driver is good, and they
can splatter vehicles. In my opinion, of course, i would say that the
chopper needed a ton of skill to be good, but if the driver IS good,
it can be one of the best vehicles in the game because of its unique
aspects.
2) New object sets. In the noble map pack we got the same template for
tempest as we got in Forgeworld. It is a request that I think many
would agree on, to receive a new set of objects for us to play around
with.
3) They could block off the rest of Sandtrap and only use the normal
Halo 3 Sandtrap for BTB and TS. Just think back to the good old times
on that map, simply amazing!
4) I know this is a stretch but literally everyone has been
suggesting this. They want
Elephants
(Real link here).
Here's a theory on how it could work posted by a member:
I just imagined if they put the elephant in and you could actually use
it to serve a purpose. You could use it to attack during one of the
invasion phases and use it as a mobile spawn point.
5)This is from another member. It's related once again to sectioning
off the map for other gametype usage, which is altogether a great
idea:
The beach area could be closed off in more symmetric gametypes. Team
slayer, possibly?
6. weapon drop pods/destroyed vehicles as objects. a crashed longsword like the one on tempest, or a pelican like the one on valhalla in halo 3, or even better, a phantom like sandtraps would make for great infection games/map themes.
7. in order to make this a forgeworld map, they could do the same thing they did with forgeworld, and make lets say all the sandstone objects in the inner pit of the map FORGEABLE, and then have the invasion version as a map, and then have a separate version on the default selection as a blank canvas, exactly like the forgeworld maps we know now.
8. i have recently made tandum with another successful thread idea, which suggests the implementation of pelicans and phantoms (and friends) into the new forgeworld i am suggesting. this would strictly only be for customs, and being such would only require that 343i takes the current campaign flyable pelicans/phantoms, and add an aiming crosshair to it when piloted, and maybe whip up the passenger controlls and functions to actual multiplayer shape.
here is the thread that most of you may already know
pelicans/phantoms for customs
