In your opinion, which game had the most epic Campaign?

Personally, I think they were all pretty epic, but if I had to choose one, it would be Halo 1. How can you deny Assault on the Control Room some eternal glory?

However, Halo in Halo 3 (the final mission) was pretty awesome too, with the final warthog (or ghosts, if that's your thing) run with Marty's epic music pounding your speakers.

Basically, there was never a dull moment in the Campaign! What do you guys think?! What was your personal favorite part of the entire Halo Campaign?

Cheers

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Halo 2 and Halo Wars.

Scooby Doo taught us many things, and one of those things is that there is no such thing as ghosts.

This make me think of the retard guy who killed himself so he could assassinate Jesus, Most likely the only good religion has done.

I loved the Original Halo. :)

The Spartan 1 Project

Halo 2 by far. Especially if bungie had time to get in the other removed missions. It was going to have a warthog run, and a battle on a covanent cruiser instead of the bomb.

The most epic was Halo 2's, but my favorite was ODST's.

Golf Wang. Brony.

I love Halo 2's campaign. Even though it was rushed and lacked some of the polished CE and H3 gameplay, I felt very enthralled in just about of the levels and moments, both MC and Arbiter. It also helps the story was very interesting in Halo 2.

Yeah, pretty sad.

Close to H2 I adore ODST's campaign. I thought it had a great cast of characters and VO work (some Firefly cast lol) and setpieces all within one city. The beginning was intense (in regards to usual Halo), the fact it was happening during Halo 2 and you can see that is great, and the day vs. night thing... excellent.

Sometimes I wish when the Peter Jackson thing failed Bungie decided not to make an expansion and let 343i make ODST (expansion or full game) with Reach's engine. Honestly. The awesome cast of ODST really needed dat facial animation and mocap, graphics needed dat rain and lighting (city looking blue instead of whatever it was), etc.

Not to mention Sadie's Story and ODST's ending. Both were grand; how could you not at least be interested in seeing New Mombasa in red getting glassed by a Covenant Cruiser (with 10x more lens flare!) while DARE and an Engineer (who's now a part of your team!) are piloting a garbage truck? Halo 3: ODST didn't play it safe.

Halo 2 was my favorite.

Combat Evolved. I was involved in everything, and it felt like I really was a one man army. Not just some marine with weak recharging shields and a cool suit.

Halo 2. Easy.

I loved the stuff in Halo 3, with The Ark and such. Traveling beyond the Milky Way...

Trussingdoor is pretty kewl. He fires lasers and doesn't afraid of anything.

H2. Reach's campaign was just disappointing. No character development, not enough scope or creativity.

Easily Halo CE.
Aside from ODST, it's the only Halo game that has an overarching narrative flow that's both well-shaped and well-paced. The cutscenes are beautifully edited, the gameplay is absolutely top-notch and coherent with the storytelling tone, everything is wrapped together and paced perfectly, and it is a work of aesthetic genius. There is no dissonance in what it offers.

A lot of people are saying Halo 2. And while I'll admit that H2 has phenomenal cutscene writing and some nice set pieces (though I still like HCE's more), aside from that I still, to this day, consider it something of a dissapointment. The truncation of the story turned it into a bit of an episodic scramble; they tried to salvage the pacing and flow as best they could, but it's still disjointed and floppy. It had enormous potential to be epic, but I find it very hard to look at something that lacks a fluid narrative and call it "epic".
Aside from that, I also agree with most of what Rockslider has to say about it.
Halo 2 is, at some level, superficially stylistically coherent enough that I do occasionally feel drawn to play it. But whenever I do, I am quickly reminded why, six years ago, I was playing mostly HCE again within weeks of H2's release.

Given up on bungie. Not on Halo.
Ps. 343 Industries has more ambition then bungie did when they made Combat Evolved.

Who the hell chose ODST?

True. I think part of the reason is that Halo was this new mysterious ring world and it was just so exciting and exhilarating and with Marty's music pumping along with the Chief it felt so awesome - while you plough through Covenant scum with your big ass armor suit feeling like God.

EPIC.

----------------------------------

A lot of you are saying Halo 2. I must say the Campaign in Halo 2 was pretty awesome as well, it just didn't seem to have as many - for lack of a better word - memorable moments. I mean, I haven't talked to a single person who doesn't remember Assault on the Control Room or The Maw from Halo 1.

Halo 2 just seemed a much slower pace. Yes, it seemed desperate and like humanity was getting closer to destruction, but half way through the Campaign you're just strolling along through Delta Halo, which was a very slow placed level given it's position in the Campaign.

It was a good Campaign, don't get me wrong, just didn't have as many memorable, defining moments I guess.

The ODST Campaign was unique and very well crafted - I quite enjoyed it. I agree, to call it the most epic might be a bit much, but it was good nonetheless.

Halo 2's campaign by far. Most epic story too.

But every Halo has its epic levels.
Halo had Assault of the Control Room, The Maw and Silent Cartographer.

Halo 2 had Outskirts, Metropolis etc etc

Halo 3 had Tsavo Highway, The Covenant and The Ark

ODST had its fair share of great levels.

Reach pretty much has all epic levels...

I love all the campaigns, but if you ask me about the most epic: Halo 2

And the Gavemind was to be introduced in a level called "Forerunner Tank."

Yes, it was exactly as it sounds: you drove a Forerunner tank.

This. Also, Beachead was my favorite level in any Halo game.

Combat Evolved. Halo 2 comes in a close second.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Where's Halo Wars?

Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST were great.
