The 10th anniversary of Halo is coming up and I was wondering(Probably not the first) if Bungie would ever be willing to release the demo that they showed for Halo 2 at E3. As a rabid halo fan, I know that the demo wasn't really a piece of the game in the way it was supposed to be but wouldn't it be cool if we could play it anyway?

I know I'd be willing to throw out some MS points for a piece of halo history...

I loved hearing the reactions of the audience. When they saw John dual-wield SMGs there were screams of "OH MY GOD".

(Bungie > 343i)

Yeah, it looked really fun.

I'm glad some agree. I know that the demo didn't turn out like bungie hoped but being able to play it would be cool.

I liked the opening part with the camp. Ending? Not so much as it's a no-win situation.

Yes, if I ever work at Bungie, asking to play that demo is on my list.

I'd love to play it, but not as DLC. Instead, I wish they had just had it in the final game. Why did they scrap all of that in the first place?

Master Chief vs several spec-ops elites wielding swords = death.

As for the rest, Idummo.

They didn't scrap it, they put a lot of that stuff into the game, just in different areas of Outskirts/Metropolis.

A lot of the dialogue/"Marine Camp" areas are from right before the Scarab in Metropolis. The Gauss Hog area is at the end of Outskirts, etc.

Gauss hog is in Metropolis. Metropolis mission is bridge and beyond, outskirts is before the bridge

You are correct, but they didn't add the level we saw as the demo in the retail version. And am I wrong when I say that the demo was 10x more epic than the final game? That's what makes me love the demo. The sheer immersion and depth Bungie put into the environment to make the city feel like you were on a planet at war. Outskirts/Metropolis? Not so much.

Not necessarily. Plasma grenade in on Spec-Ops, shoots at a group to distract them, grabs the energy sword, there goes another elite, has more space for himself, throws another grenade.

I just don't understand why everyone thinks that the Chief would die in that situation when there are clear advantages (can i haz plasma grenades, a corpse and an energy sword? kthx). It would be a challenge, that's for sure, but not an impossible one, much less with the AI at the time.

*Chief throws plasma grenade, let's assume it's the only one he has, and he sticks the elite directly infront of him.*

1 down. *He opens fire on another with his lone SMG since he stored/dropped the other.*

*While engaging another elite, he moves forward to grab sword, which is in the semi-circle of spec-ops.*

*As he grabs sword, he is surrounded by the rest and stabbed while he is dealing with one.*

The problem with the *stick, then grab energy sword* plan would be that the elite would die and drop it in the semi-circle, meaning chief would have to charge through the swords to get it. I mean, in any halo game if there was an elite with a sword, you don't charge them. It usually ends badly.

Challenge? definitely. Impossible? maybe not. Chances of success? Low/Extremely low.
