I actually enjoyed ODST more than I did with Halo 3.
It was different and after 9 years of playing Halo in basically the same shape, I wanted something different.
Sure, it had its flaws. It often was turned into a simple shooting gallery due to parts of the levels being too much catered towards Firefight.
But it also did a lot of things right!
- Its story was interesting.
- The contrast between day and night was great
- VISR
- Silenced weapons
- Not feeling as invincible as before (even tho this could have been increased even more!)
- Firefight
- The whole sad, tragic vibe the game had.
- New Mombasa hubworld (although it could have been bigger and more varied)
It was quite coherent too, something Halo 3 definatly lacked.
As for the price and multiplayer:
The game cost 40 euros here, opposed to 60 euros standard for a new game. So we Europeans actually did pay a price suited for an expansion.
As for multiplayer: you get the entire Halo 3 multiplayer for "free" on top of te package...why complain? It wasn't said anywhere that there would be a new multiplayer!
Also: I (and a lot of people with me) didn't buy the H3 DLC and waited for prices to drop or to have the rare free DLC (something H2 DID have!), so getting the complete package for less than I would have paid for all DLC separate wasn't bad at all.
