If Sandtrap is on Charumm Hakkor, how did the Prisoner escape?

Maybe, for whatever reason, someone from the outside lowered the defenses and allowed him to escape?

Or maybe he found a lot of Bubble Shields.

If I was to paint a picture of what is happening or has happened in Sandtrap, it would appear that the Covenant (Brutes) found the planet and decided to investigate, but their Phantom was shot down by the still active towers.

The Brutes may then have died off from starvation or when the UNSC showed up. The albatross may have crashed in similar circumstances.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I was under the impression that Sandtrap was set on the Ark, not Charum Hakkor. That's why the Aegis Fate is there.

Seriously Oak, Ive been doing this -blam!- for 16 years, gimmie my Friggen starter Pokemon and dont call me till im the champion! ¬_¬

I wouldnt be suprised if it was a precursor cage, though charum haktor would be questionable

it seems too harsh to have what just could be the most Monumental planet of Halo lore inhabited by sweaty, violent monkey creatures :P

though im convinced now its precursor :P

It can't be on Charum Hakkor. The reason the Prisoner escaped in the first place was because of Mendicant Bias test-firing the Halo Ring which destroyed all Precursor technology, structures etc on the planet. Precursor tech and structures are based on neural physics, only Halo's harmonic frequency destroys them.

I can't see the Aegis Fate rocking up above Doisiac without complaint from a still formidable Brute species.

Sandtrap is clearly designed to keep something in. Maybe the sand is the remains of Precursor technology. Perhaps after the rings were fired, everything slowly turned to sand.

Vision is hampered on Sandtrap by the surrounding dust storms.

Who's to say there wasn't a dome 100,000 years ago?

Well, if they are Human ruins that have survived for over 100'000 years, then there would surely be pieces of the dome lying scattered over the terrain.

Granted, the base of the dome could be lying further out in the dust storms and the other fragments buried over time.
Do remember, also, the surrounding wall is round. It is entirely possible that it could've once been the base of a massive stone dome that once stood over Sandtrap, that may have weakened, fell and got buried in the sands.

Let's break it down, though. On one side of the map is some kind of tomb. Leading through that, you find a "chasm" of sorts, on the other side of that, a long pathway through another structure. Emerging from that, among rubble, you find yourself looking at massive stone... gates? Two large tower-things, pointing at eachother (this is where one team (I think Red) spawns). What is their purpose? What do these 'gates' do?
What about the Phantom, and the human Dropship (I want to say Albatross, but eh), crashed and half-buried?

You may have solved the concept of Sandtrap, OP, but not the secret.

Anyway, good to see you made a whole thread about it, and many kudos. It's a good theory. We should get a Bungie Employee to come and drop hints.

Let's talk about the tomb. Who do you think is inside?

Well, we're trying to find evidence that it was a Precursor..?

One area of the map that does interest me more than others is the main pathway or track between the two section of the structure. It appears as though something should be there.

Perhaps this was the actual prison cell, and the opposing sides were a means of viewing or conversing with the prisoner.
