When the smoke clears you will see the face of your killer. It is I ... AfterTheFire

Does anyone else notice how similiar Halo is to this movie?

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

yes, but it leans more towards aliens.

I don't think it's based on StarShip troopers. I think it just follows the same trend of military based sci-fi.

The books that set up modern military sci-fi were Starship Troopers and The Forever War and maybe Dune. So yeah Halo will be similar to Starship Troopers.

Come on, you apes! You wanna live forever?

Halo is inspired by many things. Alien, Dune, Starship Troopers, Ender's Game; the list goes on. Most franchises do it though; for example Mass Effect is heavily inspired by Babylon 5, and Bioshock by Atlus Shrugged.

Writes are only human, and when humans watch something we're captivated by it tends to inspire us. I know that when I write I look to other pieces of fiction often for inspiration.

I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions... *Smacks Connor*

I'm surprised that nobody ever points out Larry Niven, does his novel "Ringworld" not give the game away?

I haven't read the book, but isn't the only similarity the ring shape of halo?

Don't worry, I'm sure Alex hasn't read it either. You know, since his favourite book is Harry Potter.

Yeah, I just took it to the publics.

"Question. Which Spartan is best?"
"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."
"Spartans shoot Sangheili. Spartans. Sangheili.....Battle Star Galactica."

Avada Kedavra!

Just kidding!

Ringworld and Halo are almost nothing alike. The only connection (which sounds big but isn't) is the ring shaped world. Even on that the two series differ immensely due to the size and characteristics of the Ringworlds.

I've fixed your post for decency. You should thank me.

Answer: yes. The major difference being that Halo is hardly fascist propaganda.

You just unleashed the beginnings of Godwin's Law. Are you proud of yourself?

I don't have to kill you quickly, you know

Although Halo holds some similarity to the movie Starship Troopers as you noted, the book is completely different, and the Troopers from the book are more like Spartans. The "marines" are sent in in much smaller numbers and siege a city in no time, then clear out and move on. I think it took like twelve of them about twenty minutes or so, can't remember exactly because I read it a long time ago.
