GT: Blue Beta
"Humans were built for war"-Solid Snake

a cyber punk thriller: "Hell" I heard pretty good things about hell. It was in the bible and -blam!-, so it must be pretty good. -blam!- crazy. Its like "Shadow Run" without the run. Cept Its just like: "Get -blam!-" Cause your in hell. I mean, its not that much fun down there. A lot of pineapples... Sucks ass actually

The trailer wasn't that great. I'll probably buy the maps, but god only knows how much time I'll put into them (not much).

Where can I get the music from the trailer? Bungie have released trailer music before, is this one going be available?

I am highly disappointed in Bungie, and I absolutely refuse to pay ten dollars for three maps that I'll probably barely ever get to play on my favorite playlist. Bungie seem to be masters of giving you something amazingly awesome, and then tearing it away from you, like taking away the teddy bear that you just gave your daughter; Bungie are good for nothing teddy bear thiefs! Take infection for example: it becomes a permanent playlist, and everybody is very excited. People begin to play the new infection playlist, and then the hardcore Infection players get into a Niche. For me and all of the other hardcore infection players, the point of the game quickly became to find a good spot for your team to defend against the zombie hordes, and for the zombies it was to find clever ways to circumvent these spots and kill those pesky humans; everybody loved it just the way it was, but then Bungie pulled out their ban-hammer on fun and began editing the maps so that the team of humans no longer has any spots to defend themselves. The games were short before- the longest game I've ever played was seven minutes long- but now they're just pathetic, the new average is a three minute game. I've stopped playing Infection all together, and I used to be a hardcore Infection aficionado. They took away the spot on the rocks in asylum, and the zombies had a very clever round-a-bout way of getting to this spot without the humans spotting them,- by climbing on top of blue base, jumping onto the cliff, waiting in a zone on the cliff that's lower than the others so that their return to battlefield can reset to ten, and then evading to the rocks to get the humans- but Bungie took away this well liked and well known spot. They also took away the balcony on boardwalk, the outer space area on zealot,- it's not even available on team slayer or SWAT for people who used to go out into space and battle it out- and I suspect that they specifically created Anchor 9 to not have any defend-able spots. What's next, the snipers nest on Pinnacle? The roof on The Cage? The pillars on reflection? Or even the bathroom shower on Powerhouse? Who knows, some of them might already be banned, and it tears me up inside to see how they have defiled that once great playlist, but this is what Bungie is good at, promising you the sun, only to tear it away from you seconds after they give it to you. I was highly disappointed with their last map pack; the maps were barely fun and could only be used on a few playlist, and their system sucks so badly that if you go into the playlist that they're available on, then you're probably not ever going to get to play these maps anyways. They should look to the people who created Call of Duty: Black Ops; their last map pack had five new maps, and a new Zombies map. All I'm saying is that Bungie should at least put four diverse and fun maps into their map packs, and they should also include a decent Fire Fight map. Instead, with the Noble Map Pack, we got three somewhat OK maps, and no new firefight map, and now with the Defiant Map Pack, it seems as if we're barely getting two, count 'em, two somewhat OK looking maps, and a somewhat decent looking Fire Fight map. To atone for this mistake, I suggest that they either lower the price, or they delay the release long enough to create at least one more map, and maybe even include a couple of new forge world created maps as well.

"I am highly disappointed in Bungie"

Bungie had absolutely nothing to do with this map pack. It was watched over by 343 Industries in collaboration with Certain Affinity.

KARATE!!!

I don't know if I'm going to pay for anymore maps after the last pack... I've never played any of those maps outside of the map pack playlist and the gametypes are a bit to random for my taste. I payed 10 bucks for maps I never get to play. =0(

I love Dr Pepper!

Look guys, I have a moderation notice!!! how exciting!

the noble map pack sucked dick, its one of those map packs that you -blam!- up on so your suposed to give it away for free like you did with the stupid map packs from halo 3, the only map that people ever vote for is anchor 9, unless its invasion on breakpoint. We should all get our money back from the noble map pack so we can buy the defiant map pack, unless that one sucks to, but i think that one actually looks kinda good.

  • 02.17.2011 11:14 AM PDT

$10 for three maps. What a joke. I can't believe people actually bend over for these ripoffs.

looks awesoome. Epic music too. Nothing beats Bungie.

Can't decide if I'm getting it. Looks ok but won't know till the next 2-3 weekly updates when pics, overheads & breakdowns are included. I too agree that there should be more maps included but this isn't Bungie's call and it's a safe bet they'll test the hell out of them.

Who knows for sure what Bungie is up to. They have a lot on their plate and have a history of those sneaky misdirected surprises. It's very possible there is a patch on the way. These things take time to gather & sift through data, compiling a test patch, implementing on the test network, lots & lots of testing, lather rinse repeat till ZBR. Reach's engine is a complex beast so there's a lot that needs to be proven before exported to Microsoft as noted in the weekly updates last Spring & Summer. Remember Halo 3's first big patch wasn't a quick release either.

I'm in a nice & generous mood for some reason that defies all logic & reason. So here, sink your teeth into this piece of Marty goodiness. Sacred Icon Suite 2 is track 22

If you actually read my "wall text" as you call it, then you would see that I'm disappointed in Bungie for the first map pack, what they've done to the infection playlist, and am upset that we're only getting two new multi-player maps and one new fire fight map.

  • 02.17.2011 1:21 PM PDT

TBH, and I hate to say this, but Certain Affinity have done a better job on new maps than Bungie. Noble MP looked 'k, I didn't buy it, but these ones are looking pretty good. 'tis a shame that 1 is Firefight, not to mention they're like £10.

  • 02.17.2011 1:24 PM PDT

I just wish that they'd give us more for our money. I'm not familiar with certain affinity, and it doesn't matter how good of a job that they do on this new map pack; I know that I'm never going to get to play the two new multi-player maps outside of the DLC playlist.

Totally disagree. Personally I don't think the Defiant maps are looking particularly inspiring compared with the Noble maps (which were a marked improvement over the on-disc maps imo). Hopefully the Defiant maps will be fun spaces to play in nonetheless, but there doesn't look like anything original here.

I share your view re. the package deal though. I'd much rather have three MP maps than two plus one FF. I can understand Bungie - or whoever is calling the shots - wanting to cater for all camps within the community, but it seems odd to split the DLC in this way. It'd make more sense to offer content for other aspects of the game separately; that way folks could opt for the add-ons they feel they'd get the most value from.

Probably not gonna pick this up. Reach has lost its luster for me as of late.

But I gotta admit, you had me playin' strong for a good ten years, Bungie.

Can't wait to see your next game though.

Non-Halo.

They put the rating at MA 15+ for a reason.

Why don't you take a break on hashing out wasted money on map packs and use that money to code and program solutions to the mass of complaints on the forum?

Seems more logical.

That really has nothing to do with it. I agree with him, and is dissappointed that you didn't come back with a reasonable arguemnt, except insulting. Good show of maturity.

I take it the Noble Map Pack will not become free then?
If that is the case I doubt I will be buying this, which also seems to be the general consensus with those I play with.
I am in the same exact boat as you. I play Halo online, but it is not daily for hours on end, it is a few matches a week, there is no way that this is worth $20 for me. If I could pick up both map packs for $7(come on bungie, the power of 7), I would probably go ahead and purchase both, but come on, 20 bucks for maps?

[EDIT] I guess I really don't buy any map packs or add-ons in general. I used to buy expansions for PC games all the time when they were $20 and $30 but they added usually a single player campaign along with a totally revamped multiplayer one. I bought the maps for Halo 2 but that was because I played that game a ton at the time and I thought I would try it, but it even left a bad taste in my mouth. Seriously, $30 for CoD maps. Dragon Age's was disappointing for the amount paid. Oh and Assassin Creed 2's DLC being cut from the game just to use as DLC that is not even great... :|
