I noticed that. and the small yellow built in lense is connected by a gray line to the big extrenal one... If the Reach player models are right-handed and right eyed, like in-game actions and poses show... and the lenses are on the spartan's right side... It can't be a sniper variant, because that's looking into a scope with another scope. Not the best way to shoot.
I'm guessing a Deniable Ops, or maybe another spy role, which it's extra optics would imply, as they would help collect info.
Or, since it does also have a normal visor, it might be a "Spotter" helmet, which might mean the optics act like binoculars. Even the best snipers need a spotter. I'm guessing that applies to super-soldiers, too.

Let's not get off-topic folks...
It'd be a shame to have the thread locked after all this work
OT: The helmet appears to have some sort of scope or lens that comes from the top of the helmet and covers the players right (our left) eye
Wow, you seem to know a lot about military combat lol not really, but I do know more than alot of people.
Growing up outside Fort Bragg did expose me to alot of retired soldiers, though. Even my boy scout troop had three scout masters who were marines XD
Sounds like a pretty badass boy scout troop. Yeah. But most of our cooler stuff was in summer trips to landmarks.
