I thought Mk. V [A] was the rouge helmet.

You're right. The Mk. VI [A] was, but I had no idea that there was an [A] anything.

Oh but it would be nice to see the ODST sniper variant or the Rogue helmet with chest and shoulder pieces. There's no excuse for not putting them in the game.

Keep in mind I almost never quit, I just hate the fact there are over 6 different bans in the game, kind of leads me to think Bungie just enjoy punishing there fanbase.

Number one is impossible. Hackers would have found it before the games release because by hacking you have access to everything in the game.

i've brought this up before, if Hackers could have access to disk locked content before the release of the game, why could they not access the pre-order and edition exclusives? because they are locked by permission files that are unique to each armour set. these permission files have counter files that can be accessed through the key that you get with the your game (the inserts). the counter files cannot be accessed any other way because they are locked down until release, when the code is sent out, which then allows hackers to duplicate the file and access the armour. these counter files can only be duplicated when the file is released, and since the counter file for this armour (if it is unlocked this way) has not been released to the public, it cannot be duplicated

also for the hackers that got early copies of the maps, if the counter file is part of the download, they would not have received it due to the fact that the official release maps would not have this file coded into them yet

Like I and other people have said, If bungie wanted it to remain a secret then they would of had the foresight to hide it from hacker/modders. Someone in another post said that they see the file names and reported unused files for AAs or something so who is to say that one of these is not the file for new armor? yes they have access to everything but bungie is not likely to call it 'secret armor' they would hide it/call it something that no one would think of.
edit- READ THE POST ABOVE my friend here puts it ALOT better than me lol

a great point, if you know people can find a way to examine the files on the disk, why would you give a secret piece of armour an armour related name?

Well, you guys seem to support on-disc hidden content. that wouldn't be new armor, would it? it's like if bungie hid the mission that would explain june's ending on the disc and release it as "DLC" on the marketplace for 1200 MS pts, much like BC2 did with their first "map" packs (at least they were free for people who got the game new). that's not "new", it's just hidden content that bungie deemed to make you pay for to get.

i see what you are getting at, but if Bungie wanted to keep this a secret, the method you showed here would not be an effective way of doing it. even if these were hidden with new name, the file sizes would give them away and the forums would be flooded with "there is a secret campaign hidden on the disk" topics. hiding armour is much easier than hiding all out missions or maps.

yeah sorry about that typo; it's 1 o'clock here and I've been doing maths all day. stupid ODEs...

anyways, you guys spit out some theories about hidden content, I didn't make these up...

"Pain is painful."
-Suv-Visser 24

I just want to say I don't know how much that would work making an add-on to do add more armor and stuff. Bioshock 2 did that, one that raised the level cap to 50, got more gun upgrades to unlock, and new characters to play as, and more masks for the characters. Thing is the download was a 100k or so file, and really all it was was a code to unlock the content on the disc. That's like the only way they've figured out how to do it and Bioshock 2 players were ticked off that they had to pay 5 extra dollars to get something that was already on the disc.
Not saying it's impossible, just saying that is so far the only way they've figured out how to do something like that.

actually i believe i have read somewhere that the disk locked content was actually confirmed by a Bungie employee

okay so not confirmed, but it is an effective method to allow "DLC" of non-downloadable items, like armour

but basically my point is that this hidden content is NOT a theory, it's what bungie did with halo 3's recon and flaming helmet, its what they did with Johnson in ODST, and its what they did with the preorder and edition exclusives of reach

even the nameplates follow this scheme, when you chose a nameplate, the authorization file is sent to your game telling it to display the changes

yeah, I know that, but you didn't have to pay specifically to get johnson (pre-order) and recon (achievements) after you bought the game.

  • 02.14.2011 10:07 PM PDT

I really think this theory has bungie written all over it XD
I know its not confirmed but come on does it not reek of bungies sneakyness. gotta love the way they tease their fans, like the weekly update for example

but they still use these authorization files. the method of getting them is just different
